They're only expected to talk about soccer for one month every 4 years. If you expected them to give any meaningful analysis then your expectations were too high.
This. Or they ignore the World Cup because they aren't experts and then everyone complains about how ESPN ignored the world cup. They have to talk about and cover everything, so I don't expect them to be an expert in anything. That's why I rarely watch ESPN, and if I do, it's for entertainment value, not to gain any actual sports insight. And I do find Around the Horn and PTI entertaining if I have the time...there's nothing else on at this time anyways.

That US/Algeria game was one of the most nerve wracking experiences of my life, but the end and the hour celebration in the stadium after the game was absolutely amazing.
I guess they are since Donnymost said the same thing. Still, I would at least do some homework and not look like a total idiot. I know the history, stats, more than enough about soccer just as much as I know about football, basketball. C'mon now.

Last time I was so excited about anything sports related was when the Rockets got out of the 1st round. Wish I recorded me and my friends when Donovan scored.
You guys think Mexico have any shot vs Argentina? I dont think so ... but I would love to see a USA vs Mexico match in the semi.
Congratulations USA! I am very happy that the US advanced; however, to be honest, I would have preferred playing you guys. First the US and then Uruguay or South Korea sounds like so much of an easier path. IN FACT - if you are lucky and play well, you could actually reach the semi-finals of the world cup with that draw, which would be huge, of course. As far as Germany is concerned - we were somewhat lucky today, some players were terrible (Podolski, Khedira, Mertesacker - just awful, and Podolski was so lazy). We have owned England in the world cup (and European championship) for the last 40 years, but I think this could be their turn. Schweinsteiger is injured and he is by far our most important player right now. Our defense is more than shaky and we lack a killer up front. So I think the "island monkeys" as we prefer to call them might advance this time. And after that, it would be Argentina, which will be very tough. So I think we would have to be extremely lucky to get to the semi-finals. Oh well, let's hope for a penalty shoot-out against England. I am pretty confident that we would win that one...
