Easy man. Being in Old Trafford for years watching soccer matches, have you once heard another soccer fan in the stadium cried for an instant review?

My man, I have heard a lot of English football fans cry about that, and flopping and phantom fouls and hand balls (Maradona) and loads of others stuff.

A lot of my best friends over there would love to have it cleaned up as well.

A soccer match resembles a sport that needs to be officiated more efficiently and thus should be open to ideas.

Fifa changed the final group games played so that all four teams have to play on the same day and time for that very reason.

If soccer resembles this 'real' life then Fifa would not have changed that. In real life people take advantage of the system all the time, when they did that with World Cup play Fifa took notice and changed it the very next world cup.

I think you miss the fact that it's ridiculous that a nation's hopes can (nearly, in this instance) be shattered because a referee has a bad angle and obviously blows a call. You're arguing the beauty of soccer is in the ref's bad call; I'm arguing that it was in the play preceding it.

Say NO to instant review and your "technological" advances.

 Keep the game BEAUTIFUL. Keep the bad refs OUT.

There haven't been TECHNOLOGICAL advances since... well, there haven't been any that STOP the game. Why now? PURE sport for 90 minutes.

I am all for tradition with using 1 CR and 2 ARs and no review but maybe we could add 1 referee at each end, stationed just outside the goal areas.

That is really not radically since we move the AR to the intersection of the goal line and 6yd line or 18 yd line on PKs anyhow.

Look, Fifa is about money, if they want to get into the largest economy in the world (USA) they need to think a little bit about cleaning up their sport.

I am a die hard, but the US fanbase with all their disposable income is not, not yet....

Why? A lot of it has to do with flops, cheats, scandals, and wrong calls and more importantly Fifa not even bothering to answer or address it.

Fifa is flawed, and could use a little help, IMO.

EXACTLY, let the players decide the game, not the officials....

    100% spot on....

How bad would it have been if the USA went home having earned 7 points and having 2 GOOD goals disallowed....how is that beautiful?

    It is flat out r****ded.

I watched, literally, until the 90th minute. Then I had to leave for a doctor's appointment. I'm sitting in the office and my phone updates. USA 1 - ALG 0 FINAL. I nearly gave the old lady sitting in front of me a heart attack.

WOW, geez who made you the moderator? There are quite a few international fans on this board so chill buddy, keep your teenage hormones in check. I'm only a fan of France football because of Zinédine Zidane, I'm not from that country.

I don't think team USA is part of the elite teams in the tourament. I'm just being honest, stop being a child and take that criticism like a man. Having said that I do believe the US plays better team football than some of the elite teams.

Also, having fans of a variety of teams makes this thread better, so quit your b****ing.

I think they need to give the 4th official the job of determining what's offsides and other stuff because from what I've seen, they don't do too much besides getting substitutes in and holding up the numbers of additional time. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I think the 4th official should have more responsibility than that.

BTW, as a United fan, referee decisions usually go our way at Old Trafford, that's why no one complains... except for the visiting fans in the East Stand.

Soccer fans need those unfair or unfortunate elements to let go their anger and rage. We cried and cursed when adversities happened to the team we support. Assuming there's a perfect system to nitpick every mistakes the referees made during a match, I can see there's the end of this sport.

Isn't it fun and relief to cursed the oppponents and referees with in the stadium altogether with your fellow Man U fans?

If the that game would've ended 0-0, it would've set US soccer back a solid 20-30 years, if not more. I am so happy for the team, but even moreso, I'm happy for the sport. Soccer as a whole won a HUGE victory today in the United States.

I understand the part about letting the 4th do more but what? He is off the field , all he can do is maybe review on monitor, but how does he stop play?

I like the idea of adding another referee in the box like they did last year I think in the Confederations Cup... Or was it in the WC -21? not sure.

Despite the flaws of FIFA's referring system, it has still been somehow working. One way to prove it is that most of the teams that had advanced to a deeper stage or that eventually got the championship are the ones who have done it by their abilities and efforts and not by the help from the referees.

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

EXACTLY. It's not broken. GOOD teams and those who are used to being there will not complain about officiating because they don't let THAT dictate their game. Their passing skills, techniques, and overall TEAM effort keeps them away from letting ONE PERSON ruin their chances.
