There was a few minutes left, I'm confident he would've helped in the penalty shootout. I'm not saying that's the main reason they lost, there's no doubt in my mind it was a factor though.

Domenech is as good as fired, if he hasn't been already. What's the saying I heard earlier...home before the postcards arrive in the mail. Good riddance to France. They didn't deserve to be there in the first place.

Thanks...he's fine since he got the drops earlier. I was only taking the morning off. Now I get to watch all 4 games in relative peace...while chasing him around the house.

Quick question. Say both USA and England win tomorrow and they advance. They'd have 5 points each. Who'd get 1st and 2nd? I'm leaning towards U.S. because they scored more goals. Now too sure though.

Well it would first go to goal differential. Both teams are currently tied in that area so obviously if one team gains a larger differential after tomorrow then they get 1st place. If both are still tied in goal differential then it'll go to goals scored.

Had y'all seen this before? Apparently there was an ESPN 30 for 30 on the Colombian team 91-94 and my friend was gushing about this save...

YES. That's RENé HIGUITA, famous goalkeeper around the same time that Balderrama played for Colombia. The save move is called "El Escorpión" and well named for its resemblance to a scorpion. It's a fantasy move of defenders, but as a goalkeeper he was told not to do it again after that or so near the goal line. Higuita was known to come off his keeper area to attack and defend... sort of risky... he scored a couple goals like that...

Cool, but r****ded. Way too risky of a move. You better hope you pull that off because if you miss, you're never playing again.

    Aww damnit you're right.

I forgot, the 8:30am is just the pregame.

I went to bed around 3am and woke up at 8am for the last game lol. Thought 8:30am was the game and 8am the pre game. I was exhausted.

    Can't wait.

Yep, all the people here in Mexico are very pissed off with Aguirre, and this stupid starting lineup, and the substitutions.

    1) Why Guille Franco??? Why? He is sooo bad, and lets start Chicharito!!
    2) Why Guardado gets benched when he was the best player in the 1st half!
    3) Blanco is a good finisher, but sucks in the start of the game!, He is too old, to keep it up with the speed of the others, especially in the beginning.

Just like South Korea only got 4 points and advanced.

It was clear before the world cup already that his contract was expiring and was not going to be renewed (lame duck status). His successor was also already named before the world cup - Laurent Blanc.

Why not change your name to NoFun

I don't think that's the only time he's done it either.

There can only be one Higuita! A couple goalkeepers are famous to play part-time striker role like Higuita and I bet you won't forget your countryman. I can't recall his name but his nick name in Chinese was "Butterfly" due to his colourful jersey. He used to shoot the free kicks near perimeter and scored quite a number of those. Speaking of free kicks, there's ZERO goal scored by free kick this year, isn't it? Must be the ball, Adidas screwed up big time.

I missed the 80's and 90s world cup tournaments. When every national teams had unique characters and styles. The ways their played (South Amercians, East Europeans, West Europeans, South Europeans all play the game differently with their own styles). Players would even get a unique
    hair-cut to celebrate the event.

The tournaments became less interesting to me since 2006.

That was Jorge Campos for Mexico and another keeper, Luis Chilavert (Paraguay) used to take free kicks and penalties also. Korea scored off of a free kick in last night's match.

USA-Algeria! If we win, we're in to the knockout round. A draw requires England and Slovenia to draw or the latter to flat-out win. A loss kicks us out.

Ghana and Germany play this afternoon, which could very well decide group D.
