Ouch for Ghana. They were primed to make a strong run this year. I don't know a ton about their team, but not having a player of his caliber hurts. I don't think they have the depth of Germany who lost Ballack, but will still make a deep run.

I've called the Mexican soccer team the Utah Jazz of CONCACAF/FIFA for years.

Man, I really don't understand Bradley. How can guys like Edu, Gomez, Buddle, and Findley go m.i.a. throughout qualification, and suddenly pop in to join the WC roster? And where the hell was Freddy Adu throughout all of this? Say what you want about his current situation, but he never even got an opportunity to prove himself!

Maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about, but I do know that I have an uneasy feeling about this team. Is it our injuries? Is it Bradley? I don't know exactly. The last time I had any confidence was after the Spain game, and even then we didn't exactly start that tournament very well. I really hope the USA shows up this year because 2006 was brutal, and I do not want to go through that again.

Anyway, I can't wait for this to start! I'll be rooting for the USA, Mexico, CONCACAF, and CONMEBOL. Keep the trophy on this side of the pond!

I'm a big fan of Ghana, Eissen is a rock in midfield, terrible news for them. They probably had the best defensive midfield in the game, but without Eissen that won't hold true. I still see them doing well without him, Serbia is the other team in their group that stands in their way, will be a toss up now on who gets past the group stages.

I have only one team, The United States MNT. I will never cheer or support the Tricolores. Ever.
Besides the fans booing or whistling during the Star Spangled Banner and throwing beer, vomit or both at players, the one thing that I do rememember and will not forget or forgive were the chants of Osama when the US played in an Olympic qualifier in Mexico. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/4236314/
Now I know it wasn't the whole crowd and the players themselves played it off, but that's just pathetic. There is no excuse for that kind of crap. And the attitude of it's our pastime, our national sport. http://www.latinamericanstudies.org/sports/xenophobia.htm You guys have no passion, you don't understand just smacks of a snobbish attitude I thought was only endemic to Europeans.
Being passionate doesn't give anyone the right to act like a dick. And I know you shouldn't lump all the fans together because there are passionate and respectful fans on both sides, but this behavior keeps happening and adding up to the point were it's just accepted or ignored.
Now if pissing at the Jalisco stadium pitch is the same as chanting "Osama" or being disrespectful to another countries national anthem, I suggest you take your blinders off and come back to the planet earth.

And in case I haven't said it loud enough for some of you. Let me repeat,The United States will be the first country from CONCACAF to win the World Cup.Maybe not in South Africa but they will sure enough. It will happen.

And I'll be waiting for your whatever wager you want to offer slowey-d. :p :p

 They'll never answer that one.

plcmts17 - LOL! Really?!? OMG, your predictions are so frightening  !!

"And in case I haven't said it loud enough for some of you. Let me repeat,The United States will be the first country from CONCACAF to win the World Cup.Maybe not in South Africa but they will sure enough. It will happen." I like the "Maybe not in South Africa" qualifier... and the confidence you have... it's comical how you can't say that to your team's face. Then why do you even watch it?

How can that even be compared to what happens south of the border?

He pissed on a field...yes. I don't want to start flinging poo, I don't have all MEX fans or anything. But the "bad apples...and there are quite a few of em" have ruined the reputation.

You don't want players to get injured but as an Aussie certainly not complaining about Essien and Ballack being out, although I don't think Ballack will effect the Germans too much, although i'm sure they would prefer to have him.

I do think we will miss him a lot. I don't think we have a chance at the title (would have been tough with him already, but without him, it seems almost impossible). We have quite a few good young talents, but this world cup comes too soon for them, the coach will probably go with his older guys like Friedrich (who totally sucks), and that is a big mistake. I think we will probably bow out in the quarterfinals against Argentina (the only match I will watch there), and then we will get a new coach and some of the older players will retire (like Klose).

I wouldn't write Klose off, he doesn't mind showing up in world cups!

In regards to Ballack, I think I mean more you guys would miss him less than say Ghana losing Essien or if we lost Cahill.
