Incorrect. The goal difference for Korea would've been -2 (5 GS, 7 GA), and Nigeria's would've been -1 (4 GS, 5 GA). Nigeria would've advanced.
I've been playing since I was 3 years old, been playing for 22 years, so I know more than you, goal differential is the first tie breaker, then total goals scored.
Yay Korea! That was the most nerve-wrecking final 10 minutes for Korea in the World Cup.. jeesh Defence still gotta step it up in the knockout round on Sat against Uruguay if they want to go far in the World Cup... Cha should've done better for the first Nigerian goal and that was just lack of concentration... Second goal... well whatever, Kim Namil is too old and that was just a plain idiotic way to concede a penalty...
I think Cha Doo Ri needs to play in the MF if at all, I just cannot stand him playing defense. Great win, I got real emotional watching Lee Young Pyo on his knees, praying after the win. Also loved watching him yell "Ju yo!" as he looked into the sky. Great step forward for Korean football, and can't wait to see how we do in the KO rounds.
LOL, you seemed to think you had more knowledge about a sport because you played more, just using your logic bro, read your post from a few pages back.
Huh? I don't remember that. Also, knowing the tiebreaker rules of a game has nothing to do with how much you played the sport. Remember how Donovan McNabb didn't know you could tie in football? I'm pretty sure 99% of the NBA players don't completely understand the equally convoluted tiebreaker rules completely in the NBA.
On that first goal, I saw a number of defensive failures. The Nigerians had no business even getting the cross off in the first place. With no space to work with, they just tiptoed down the sidelines past multiple sleeping Korean defenders. Then to top it off, the defender in the box (I'm assuming Cha) had a full step on the goal scorer but allowed him to get inside positioning. Between that sequence of events and a few others, including the one that led to the PK, I'd be worried about Korea's chances against better competition. They won't get away with that kind of effort and lack of urgency on most days. I didn't see them play before this so maybe this was just an off performance, which in itself is almost inexcusable given the stakes.
Go Korea! Yes, I was like...WTF is this guy thinking?? That penalty he caused was so stupid. I think Korea has a decent chance against Uruguay...50/50.
man, the arg-gre game was pretty boring until the end. but i had to watch messi. sounds like the other match was more entertaining. anyway, im bummed that the eng and usa match is at the same time tomorrow. should i watch my country play (hate the team tho) or should i watch usa (who im supporting)? hmm
To tell you the truth, I wasn't too surprise to see that Nigerian winger gallop down the touchline due to the fact that half the players were out of position and couldn't match his pace. Problem with Cha Do-Ri is that he has a more attacking mindset for a defender but it's inexcusable to ball watch when there are opposition players around the penalty area. Any ball that comes near the box has to be cleared away and that's basic defending 101. There's no dribbling in the box (Kim Na-gil, I'm talking to you) and no ball watching! Defence needs some sorting out but happy with the result. Still, I think S. Korea is gonna play very cautiously in the knockout round and will try to score on counter attacks or set-pieces so I don't really expect them to have anymore than 40-50% possession. The intensity will come, this team is known to be a hard working team so I am expecting a lot more urgency come the knockout rounds.
