In that case, Dikembe Mutombo should not have finished many basketball matches... I would agree that this type of foul should be punished, but clearly, the guy was not trying to hurt his opponent, he was jumping up for the ball...and he didn't really hurt his opponent either. A yellow card would have been perfectly fine - and would be consistent with what is normally applied in this case.
HCA or not, there is no way SOUTH AFRICA, who SUCKS (im sorry but this is true, they play really poorly) should dominate this french team like this. There is way too much talent on that team. You saw what happened against the USA and that invisible foul, I guess you should understand that anything can happen with the ref's in football, especially when the WC is in a country that isn't really a football fan and that is bad economically.
I wouldn't say they are exactly rigged. but you can't deny the home team and the big teams usually get the advantage. Spain gets 5 minutes of added time when they are down by 1 goal and there were hardly any stoppages... Brazilian player handles the ball twice, scores and the ref thinks its funny.. Remember Korea in 2002... Just a couple i can think of off the top of my head
LOL, than you are not playing in the right leagues. I can understand you are scared that Mexico will not advance, but do you trully believe the game is rigged? and if so, do you think the refs are paid of or the france players (who actuallt had a better chance of advancing than South Africa). That was a clear red card. His elbow was above his shoulder, there is no reason to have your elbow that high, and he hits the guy full on the chin. Clear elbow and therefor clear red card.
AWWWW!!! Fredv- You don't know what you're talking about. RSA has a giant football following. Listen to the Vuvuzelas
With basketball you use your arms to catch a ball, so it is logical that you elbow is above your shoulder. With soccer there is no reason to have your elbow that high. So like I said clear red card IMHO You haven't followed the All the drama in the French team? That is the reason they suck even more than South Africa, And of course South Africa suck, but there was also no way England would draw the USA and Algeria, Spain would lose to Swiss, etc. Maybe the reason that the goal of the USA was disallowed was because that ref sucks, not everything is a conspiracy theory. Agreed that home court teams and big team usually get the benefit of the doubt. However I haven't seen it in this match. France really sucks, and IMHO that red card was the right decision by the ref (as explained in my other posts). Look I do not care if Mexico or South Africa advance, both teams will not have to play against the Netherlands. I just say what I see. So if this game is rigged South africa will advance, if they do not advance, it is clear that nothing is rigged, and some of you guys are seeing Ghosts, right
The red card: I really really doubt it was an intentional elbow, ESPECIALLY coming from Gourcuff. Should have been a yellow card at worst. In the Mexico-Uruguay game a Uruguay player got elbowed in the face and his eyelid was open (ala Shane Battier), and yet there was no card. Rigged games: There is no "good league" lol. Its the first season i'll be playing paid football and i've heard a lot both in the first division, second and all the way down to some crappy leagues where you wouldn't even imagine clubs get money from. Some times the ref's are rigged (aka either paid or granted with "gifts" for them or there families, job opportunities, etc), sometimes its the entire squad (consists mostly of money). The FIFA and Sepp Blatter are all about the $, its in there best interest to have the home team, and the big teams advancing. And France's chances were slightly better, but when you see the squad they put up today you understand they aren't aiming for the win..
It's almost like someone paid Domenech to completely mess up the French national team, and someone has been paying someone not to fire him. I don't know how one could possibly a worse national team coach than he is.
I'm sure it's been discussed but does RSA need to win plus make up at least a -5 goal differential deficit between their game and the Mexico-Uruguay game to advance? That's how I'm seeing it looking at the standings. Edit: Plus, they'd need to either win the goals for tiebreaker or another tiebreaker and Mex-Uru can't tie, right?
I didn't see that elbow in the Mexico game (watching the other game), but like I said, if your elbow is above your shoulder and you hit the guy in the head you deserve a red card, since you are endangering the other players. ok so who do you think is rigging this match, the France team (which you just stated sucked to bad), or the refs? or both? Just to be clear what you are saying.
That wasn't an elbow. He got head butted with the mexican player in the process to bump the ball with the head. It was an accident.
LOL it was an elbow... And if anything is rigged, which I think possibly is, then its the FIFA thats behind it. And lol no i'm not like ToyCen, I don't really like conspiracy stuff, i'm only talking about the possibility of rigging because... well it does exist. I've seen it, and its happened in Italy 2 years ago, and in other countries such as Belgium 6 years ago. And that only talking about the Division 1. In my division this season for example, Team A accepted to align a crappy second unit against Team B in exchange that Team A would pay Team B's summer camp... Just an example of stuff like this that happen. It can go pretty far. And lol once again I am no alien crap believer, I believe in what I see.
Fredv, You're talking about Italians though. It's been known how corrupt their league has been. Italians in general really Gooaaal France
