This Swiss team can really defend tactically. They trap teams offside like I've never seen and even with a man down they still cover ground well. If someone needs to see how to play team defense here it is.
Congratulations, El Salvador, you still own the record for most goals scored on. The referee has handed out a total of 10 cards, 9 yellow, 1 red, for the CHI - SWI game. EDIT: Spoiler
so pretty much Spain needs to beat Honduras and Chile convincingly to advance or win both and hope Honduras can beat or tie Swiss ?
^ I agree, sirs. There is no reason, however, for GREAT PLAYERS and GREAT TEAMS to allow referees to decide a match. They should stay away from "close" calls and questionable decisions at the judgment of one man in the field. They should play their best so that these men do not sway a game one way or the other (make all the shots, play clean, show true sportsmanship and skill). So is NORTH AMERICA.
I agree. There have been some well called game. The Mexican referee stands out to me. The best refs are the ones no one notices. We notice the bad ones...especially on this stage. I wonder if FIFA should consider only using referees from nations that didn't qualify. I'm not saying that's been an issue in any way...but what if it was?
^^ Wikipedia > Wikianswers. Ask anyone. You should correct http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_America, then.
You don't get to be the only one to nit pick. Besides, I'm not convinced you actually read it... Ok...I'm done now.
Ribery is one of the main reasons the team is imploding. I don't care how good he is, I seriously hope he, along with Evra, Gallas, Anelka, and Malouda never ever wear the France jersey again. There are things that you can not do when you're supposed to represent your country. And I'm not even patriotic.
