It was a dirty elbow by Kaka which should have gotten him a straight red card, not a yellow/red. However, the elbow went to the chest, and the guy kept holding his face and acting. Should have been a yellow for that as well.
Brazil will have 6 and with Ivory Coast and Portugal at 1. Mathematically Ivory Coast can still control their destiny with a North Korea win/tie over Portugal tomorrow. (Assuming Brazil beats Portugal). But so far it looks like Ghana's the only African nation entering the knockout stage.
What I've been curious about is why they don't have a 4th official in the booth looking at replays in instances like the flop? Shouldn't getting the right call be more important than the "beauty of the game" or whatever?
How was that only 3 minutes extra time after all the crap that went on. And the Spain/Switzerland match had 5 minutes when nothing really happened.

NO!!! The beauty of the game is not "whatever". There should be video replays done from outside immediately transmitted to the referee. But never ever stop the game for more than 30 seconds. FIFA will weed out the dirty players with extended suspensions after the game. DONT TOUCH THE GAME.
Terrible refereeing. Kaka deserved the yellow, regardless of the flop. Ivorian player should've gotten a yellow for the flop. I hope they disallow Luis Fabiano's second. Also, I'll be looking for an explanation as to how the referee knew it was a handball but didn't call it. Good game Brazil. Better than last, but still need to get better.

Those two hand balls by Fabiano should have been caught by the ref, well at least one of them, pathetic really. That's why there should be video review, no team should be allowed to have a goal like that. Ivory Coast also should not have over acted on getting Kaka a red card, they need him to play against Portugal, silly tactical move really, short term gain.
Although that's basically what I was saying (like in WWE, have the referee have a earpiece that communicates with the replay official), this reasoning is strange to me. Don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but I'd rather see stoppage for more than 30 seconds of video replay rather than 30+ seconds of a player writhing around on the floor after an obvious dive...
as beautiful a game as the brazilians play, goddam they're a punch of whiney little b****es. sure, Kaka got screwed, but CIV did as well on the 2nd Fabiano goal, with at least 2 "hand" balls on one sequence.
