I played for the regional Olympic Development Team (a few of my teammates went on to play in the MLS) way back in the early 90s and we traveled to Ireland and Wales to play several games. We played the same aged national team in Ireland and got our asses handed to us.

To your point, we also played a youth club team (can't recall if it was in Ireland or Wales) that went by the same or a similar name to the parent club (can't recall that either but I think it was something with Black in part of the name).

I don't remember a lot but it was clear that they had a completely different approach to developing young players than I saw in any sport growing up in this county.

Ugh does this mean that that flaming douchebag Alexi Lalas is getting airtime?

That guy is just an a-hole.

    Argh!

    We got Joey Dorseyed.

I cannot wait till every sport switches to Android refs.

    No bias, no second guessing.

Just call the game objectively on every single play.

This is another example of why the video or 4th referee should be integrated...

We should be talking about one of the most amazingly gritty comebacks in world cup history.

Instead, we are talking about a referee that should never be allowed to do a WC game again.

    Sad.

I know, and rightfully so, I am saying that we should all be talking about a great 3-2 result, but because of that refs obvious bias and gaffe we are left stunned by a horrible call.

Yeah it's funny because the Slovenians were bear-hugging the American strikers all game long and especially in this scene, and then the ref disallows the goal. I'd be furious.

 ^^^^ Sure, 'cuz that's exactly the REF's point of view.

That's not what the referee sees... sad to say that. I say that objectively, sir.

 I mean, nice capture, sir...

I mean, that's not even fair. Both teams were locked into defensive or attacking position, and if anything, he should have let ALL fouls go.

That's a very good point, and probably is the reason.

But it's a great point at how they develop players and how we do...but the college system works for basketball obviously. Probably because the talent level in the NCAAB is so high.

My point though is, if the MLS were to replace MLB,NFL, or NBA...hell even the NHL, our Soccer team would be much much better. It's correct that we have a lot of kids playing soccer, but how many of them also play another sport? Probably think of it like this "Make millions in my country...or make millions in Europe."

Wow that guy has Bradley in a bear hug. Unbelievable. Aren't they saying now that's who the foul was on? Because if so, that ref should never call a world cup game or any game of importance for at least another decade.

Exactly...and Bradley was not even involved in the play, that was clearly a good goal and the USA has every right to be furious....

They played their hearts out and had the game stolen away by a referee, pathetic.
