Horrible phantom call by the ref. we played like **** for a half. Whoopdie doooo...they came back in the 2nd playing hard. And should have won it. spoiled americans? Wow....you sir....are a TOOL.
I really can't believe Ronny is allowed to spew troll filth all over this forum without being at least temp-banned for his bull****. Just plain trolling all the way. America is whining? Give me a ****ing break dude, everyone is flopping and whining out there... its soccer, thats what soccer is for.
And that's my point. If (and it's an admittedly big if) England loses, then the US automatically moves on with a win vs Algeria. If England wins today, then they could tie Slovenia which would create a 3 way tie and goal differential (and other tie breakers?) come into play. Maybe the US still gets ousted even with a win. If England ties, then: US and England move on if England beats Slovenia US and Slovenia move on if Slovenia beats England US and Slovenia move on if England and Slovenia draw Which works too. So an England loss or a tie means the US automatically move on if they beat Algeria. If England wins, there's the potential for things to get muddy.
Size of a country really doesn't matter though. Look at all of our best athletes, Soccer is way down on the totem pole for kids with athletic aspirations. A lot of these countries aren't nearly as big as the USA but they have more devotion to the sport.
The rule is last man foul, automatic red card and penalty. It doesn't matter whether it's inside the box or not. That's the same rule that got Khune sent off in the RSA-Uruguay match. If he hadn't fouled him, it would have been an obvious goal scoring opportunity. The Slovenian diving was really ticking me off the entire match too. Whenever you see a guy wasting time on the ground covering his eyes as if he just got stabbed in the face, you know he's obviously faking it. The Edu goal that was disallowed wasn't the first time the ref blew a phantom foul against Slovenia inside the box. What was strange was that this time he didn't even wait for any players to hit the turf before blowing it. Like I said, perhaps the worst ref I've ever seen in a world cup game.
I don't agree with everyone saying we played poorly in the first. Our first 10 minutes were HORRIBLE, but after that, we had numerous occasions to score a goal, and they were able to just put one in somehow.
whats even more annoying is how the US players/coaches cant tell you what the call was. apparently the ref never told them what the foul was, if you're gonna make a call that huge, and you knew it was wrong, at least BS one. dont just mumble and walk away.
Given the tiebreaker criteria, if we beat Algeria by 2 or more goals, I think it's impossible for us not to advance. If I'm not mistaken, the worst case scenario for us in the remaining non-USA matches would be England winning this afternoon then tying Slovenia. If that worst case were to occur, us winning by 2 goals against Algeria would bump us past Slovenia on goal differential.
I havent yelled at a television like I did this morning in a long time. That ref was pure garbage. He was missing clear fouls and then calling phantom ones constantly. The guy had no clue how to call the game.
Resources, kid. It's all about the resources. Sports like basketball, football and baseball might be ahead of soccer but the skill sets are extremely different. I mean you have a war torn nation like Serbia, where people practically live in houses made out of cardboard boxes and every day is a struggle for food, clothing, basic education... and the suburbs of America where soccer thrives and kids are getting Land Rover's for their sweet 16. Honestly, what I'm saying is right. Right now you are just stewing in your own filth which is extremely unproductive and alienates a winning atmosphere. Don't you want to grow up and make love to women like this? Well, she appreciates a winning attitude because she knows all about winning the battle of superior genetics. Game, set, match. Ronny.
Sort of like the Confed cup last year......maybe the USA knowing they have to be aggressive from the kickoff would be better. They come out soft far too often. ESPN needs the USA to get to the knockout stage..... DD
I think you are right. They try to hard not to make defensive mistakes at the beginning that it just throws them off their game.
Wait Wait Wait... THE REF CALLED HOLDING ON BRADLEY? My god, he was being bear-hugged Karl Malone style the whole time. Jim Joyce you're officially off the hook.
you guys shouldn't even discuss football since you only watch it once every four years you don't deserve to win anything after underestimating all your opponents
