i think its pretty obvious that if you dont have to announce what the foul is then he just blew his whistle to blow it and had it out for the US team. in saying that at least they tied and will most likely move on. im curious who they might play. (dont know how that works either  )
They better do it. I remember the last time I trusted the US to win easy. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AOCLXoSyqPU&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AOCLXoSyqPU&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
The point is you should root for the mostly likely scenario that helps the USA. And currently that is to hope England wins.
Here is one thing we Americans have figured out; more referees or instant replay guarantees a much better game. To have ONE guy running around, yards away, making calls that he won't announce to the "offending" team is outrageous. The fact that there are not referees behind the goal to settle things like this during set pieces is awful.
actually i think if england lost today the US would automatically move on. you just want them to win against slovenia.
It was outside the box, so no pk to give. I don't disagree with the yellow...which is the only thing I don't disagree with. That ref was a complete moron and should not be allowed to ref another game, period. I should be happy with the comeback...but I'm f***ing pissed that it was 2 points stolen from us.
And the call is.... Michael Bradley for holding. Interestingly enough, he was also being held, so I guess he held longer?
Slovenia has a population of 2 million and is 500 times smaller than America, whose soccer team no doubt has unlimited funds in training and the farm system growing up compared to the Slovenians. It's quite typical of Americans to constantly whine about the refs when they shouldn't have been in that hole in the first place. That's called having a loser's mentality against a team that shouldn't have had a fighting chance. It's very important for the Americans to keep a low profile and look forward to the match against Algeria, instead of dwelling on what could have been, to not play up to their stereotype as the spoilt brat of the world who can't function when things don't go their way. It's just not fair mommy!
Let him laugh, they won't make it out of the round. Anyway, that's ok, I'm still laughing at him trying to mug out with Kobe last night. sasha: "Kobe, kiss me you fool, we won" kobe: "Dude, I don't like you like that" sasha: "CMON, you know how I feel about you" kobe: "Yeah, but I like a girl that puts up more of a fight"
With how that one was played...who knows? The Ref has so much power that he can just blow his whistle anytime and give the other team the ball.
You guys got a lot of calls your way in the second half, there were quite a few dives from US players. The ref made a mistake on the disallowed goal, however didn't like how the players were screaming at the ref at the end of the game, poor sportsmanship. Great game though, the US were superior to the Slovenians as expected.
Yeah, he was holding Slovenia with his neck. Yeah, shame on the US players for being pissed off at getting an important win ripped away by a bull**** call, shame on them for actually wanting the ref to make the right call, I mean, if it costs them the chance to advance....they get another shot...in...oh....say.....FOUR MORE YEARS !!! Come on, they are lucky that they didn't lay that ref out....that was pathetic. DD
JeromeSolomon from the chronicle just tweeted this- Yep, blame the refs after playing like ... well, you know garden tools ... for a half. Love that whiny 21st Century American spirit. this guy is a tool, i hate him
For some reason I agree. The call was unfair, the ref was *****e, I'm a big Mo Edu fan, but FFS thats sports. There's *****e calls that decide games all the time not just in footy but also in NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB. The US should never have been in the 0-2 hole in the first place. Kudos for the comeback, I never thought for a second that the US wouldnt be able to comeback against Slovenia as I mentioned at halftime here. In all honesty the US if some mental mistakes hadn't been made in the 1st half-Donovan shirking away from marking his man and letting him take an open shot, Gooch playing his man onside, should have won this match 2-1 at the worst. On to the next one.
Sure they played like ass in the first half, but we should be talking about a glorious rally, one of the all time best comebacks at the world cup, instead, we are talking about a crap call that cost the USA the 3pts it needs. And the size of the nation does not matter, how did Germany do today? I really wish they had reviews on offside calls.....where a goal results....just get the DANGED call right. DD
