Still in critical condition. What a horrible thing to have happened to someone so young. His football might be done but hopefully he'll pull through and be able to live a good life.
Have to say that is classy supporting Abi. Missing him is worse than missing Villa IMHO. He's the best head striker for set pieces on the team and the most talented defender on the team (again IMHO). Animo Abi and get get well soon! Maybe even in time for the CL final.
His 234 goals so far... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CYLtOzHZFAc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Right now, he is far and away the best player on the planet. He is simply amazing to watch. However, until he has international success, he is still not on the stage with Pele and Maradona.
Did anyone else here catch the City vs Chelsea game yesterday? Truly heart pounding toward the last 30 minutes. Tevez comes back after 6 months and assists the game winner. Crazy! City really is making a hard run for league champs. Chelsea was up 1-0 when they took out Torres and put in Drogba.
Disgusting last 20-30 mins for those hoping for a Chelsea win or even draw. Who would have ever thought that the substitution of Torres for Drogba would result in an ineffective Chelsea frontline? I don't even know what to say about Lampards lack of defending on the 2nd goal. It seems like it might come down to 4/30.
greatest ever? lol, how about he tries to do what he does without Xavi and Iniesta and Barcelona. How about he try to challenge himself by going to another team in another league, instead of playing with arguably the best supporting cast maybe ever. Barcelona without Messi would still be really good. Messi without Barcelona is a question mark and you can't say Messi is the best ever. CR7 did it in the EPL and now doing it in Spain. Can Messi handle the physical game of the EPL and playing without two of the best midfielders ever? I am not so sure.
I don't watch a lot of soccer so I am not qualified to comment , but i support Messi since he doesn't dive (flop). <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9S7hlL4sJek" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Yeah, he should prove himself like Ronoldo by playing for crappy teams like Manchester United and Real Madrid.
I didn't even want to answer this fool. It's like saying Jordan wasn't the GOAT because he didn't play in the CBA.
Forget about the Xavi/Iniesta thing. It is simply what Leroy already mentioned, when he has success on the international stage and wins ONE world cup, then once can mention him in the same breath as Pele and Maradona as greatest ever. He could stay at Barca forever and that wouldn't be a big detraction imo, as long as he wins a world cup. In Basketball terms, Jordan wouldn't be considered the greatest if he didn't win a championship. (And more than his contemporaries).
Messi can be the best without winning a world cup. The question is whether his teammates are propping him up. I want to see Messi do it in a different environment with different teammates, like Ronaldo. I know Ronaldo has also been on stacked teams, but at least he has shown that he can be elite with different teammates.
better isn't the right word. I will say that if I were building a team from scratch, I would choose Ronaldo over Messi (ignoring the age difference).
It's not bait, I would probably pick CRonaldo as well, that's if I was building a team from scratch. Messi has at times looked irrelevant on Argentina, he has flaws in his game and its never been so evident as when he plays on the national team. I'm not much of a fan of CR, but out of the two I'd go with him because he's done more for his national team than Messi (keep in mind that Portugal has far less talent than Argentina). They both have a similar goals per game ratios for their national teams, but they are far behind many of the elite strikers who've generally scored about a goal a game. (these two do about .36 g/g)
The GOAT is still Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Q5eJ95weXCs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
