Liverpool take on Spurs at Anfield. Bring it on Sam!! Team news: Spurs starts with Keane and Defoe up front, Murphy gets a recall against his old club while Davids starts on the bench. Benitez makes some surprising changes again, with Hyypia in for Carragher and Gonzalez making a rare start. Riise is back from injury. Updates to follow..

    Half-time score: Liverpool 0-0 Tottenham

Very even match so far.. Spurs have come to Anfield with the intention of playing good football and nicking a point or three. The Reds hit the woodwork YET AGAIN :)mad: they've done this for the past four or five matches), with Chimbonda nearly diverting a corner into his own net. Ledley King misses a golden opportunity for Tottenham at the other end

    Full-time score: Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham

Turning point of the second half comes when Davids is subbed on.. he immediately intercepts a poor pass and bursts forward, before squaring for Jenas who misses from point blank range. Just seconds later Liverpool are ahead, with Gonzalez slotting in the rebound after Bellamy turns Gerrard's cross onto the post. Game was all Liverpool after that.. Kuyt beat the offside trap and finished emphatically to double his tally for the season; and in the dying minutes of the game Riise lashed home another trademark thunderbolt from 35 yards. Solid performance from the Reds, though Spurs will feel slightly aggrieved at the scoreline

Well, I will simply say that I am glad I was WAY too drunk last night to be bothered to get up to watch such a debacle. Frigging Jenas, all he ever does is get in position then abort it seems.

Spurs have gone from fighting for the champions league to just trying to avoid relegation within the span of a few months....could Carrick have been that good?

What a great day...non-stop EPL action on FSC!

Sweet scoop/lob pass from Henry for the first goal...

    weak second own goal.

Man-U vs Reading next. Hopefully Rooney can breakout today.

It was hard to break through with Blades playing 9 men back, but oh well. Henry was great, Gallas was great, Cesc was great, and it was great to see Freddie show signs of life.

Also, Djourou stepped up and had another great match. He's been a rock after a dismal match against City, and now I'm not worried about rushing back Senderos.

Jenas was wasteful today. I don't think Tottenham's poor form is purely down to Carrick though.. haven't been watching their games, but they really weren't too bad today. Before Liverpool opened the floodgates, Spurs were actually unlucky not to take the lead. Perhaps it's just bad luck. Although losing to 10-men Everton at home.. what was that all about?

Ah, and Man U draws with Reading!! BWAHAHAHAHA

Did you guys see that strike from Van Persie in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Charlton? Man, that was nice. Chelski tie gives everyone a chance to move closer! I don't think they are running away with anything this year.

I was thinking after that how the EPL really has some good coaching talent: Wenger, SAF, Mourinho, Benitez...maybe some others like Martin O'Neil? How does that stack up with Serie A and La Liga?

Liverpool's form has been up and down. Their 3 losses so far has been against team in form.

That Crouck scissor kick was spectacular!

Yeah, that was spectacular. There were some great games (fantastic finishes) and goals this weekend.

    R.V.Persie's sick volley:VIDEO

Jagielka's game winner in added time against Middelsborough: VIDEO

Anyone catch Brian Ching's game winning bicycle last night? I was actually at the game, on the back side of that goal...probably the goal of the year in MLS (Derosario's was nice but this one helped clintch a playoff spot): VIDEO

That was a nice strike. Not much Schwartzer (sp?) could do about that. Loadedaballer's right that Crouch's goal was also very sweet, especially for a dude that big. Ching's was as well!

You know, when I first saw this I thought he shinned the ball. I watched the clip twice more and yeah, I'm pretty sure he did. Now either Mr van Persie meant to do so, in which case he has the most incredible technique in the universe.. or the more logical explanation is true, which is that he fluked it :p I personally feel Rosicky's against Hamburg was better, but that's probably just me

Liverpool are not playing as well as they should - they're leaking sloppy goals and can't break down packed defences. They have also been unlucky (hit the post in every league match this season, that's seven in a row) and the ref's haven't done them any favours either. Having said that, they're only six points off the top! Should be an interesting season indeed..

Their three losses and a draw have been traditionally tough away fixtures with early kick-offs (season opener against a newly promoted side; a local derby; then matches against the league champions and a tough, physical side with a formidable home record). Not making excuses, but it's true :(

I thought it was interesting that the newly promoted teams aren't doing as poorly as it seems they usually do. They're scoring goals and putting pressure on more established Premiership sides. I think the whole promotion/relegation thing is awesome.

Here's a list I found of the top goals of september. There is a video compilation on the page I linked below:

    A. Peter Crouch - Liverpool

This superb over-head kick from Peter Crouch proved to be the winning goal against Galatasaray.

    B. Mark Bresciano - Palermo

Palermo have had a great start to the season, including this fantastic swinging volley by Bresciano against Reggina.

    C. Raul Meireles - FC Porto

Meireles proved what a good player he was last season, but as this fantastic long-range effort proved, he's getting better and better.

    D. Didier Drogba - Chelsea

Drogba's been on fire this season. He showed fantastic technical skills and power to turn and hit this straight into the corner, winning the game for Chelsea.

    E. Robin van Persie - Arsenal

A techically superb volley rifled right in the top of the net, giving Arsenal the victory over Charlton.

    F. Ronaldinho - Barcelona

Ronaldinho, what more needs to be said? This effort capped off a great win for Barcelona in the Champions League.

    G. Marco Caneira - Sporting Lisbon

Caneira inflicted more misery on Inter and Mancini as this fantastic long range effort left Inter with no points after matchday one of the Champions League.

    H. David Villa - Valencia

This superb team goal by Valencia secured them a point against the European Champions.

    I. Dejan Stankovic - Inter Milan

A fantastic goal by Dejan, much like Caneira's goal against Inter in the Champions League.

    J. Darius Miceika - Lithuania

Another fantastic over-head kick, this time from Darius Miceika against Scotland.

    K. Antonio Di Natale - Udinese

A breathtaking goal from Di Natale, the start of a six goal thriller against Sampdoria.

    L. Nani - Sporting Lisbon

A fantastic chip from Sporting prodigy Nani to earn the Portuguese side a valuable point in the Champions League. RELATED ARTICLES

Finally, an early kick-off game that DOESN'T involve the Reds.. I swear, it's almost like the English FA wants Liverpool to have a poor start to the season. This weekend, it's Man U who have to haul their asses out there just after lunch - and they find themselves trailing Wigan by a goal at half-time, thanks to Leighton Baines' (who?) 35-yard blockbuster after just three minutes. We shall see if the Red Devils get the luck of their namesake yet again, and salvage something from this tie

Liverpool take on Blackburn at Anfield later in the day.. updates to follow

    Half-time score: Liverpool 0-1 Blackburn

Man U turned it around at Wigan with a solid second-half performance to win 3-1, but I suspect Liverpool won't be able to do the same at home - we seriously stink. Lethargic play all around. Can't defend Blackburn's quick breaks, can't make something of our own either. Inept finishing as usual. Pathetic.

    Full-time score: Liverpool 1-1 Blackburn

We got a corner about 15 minutes into the second half, the commentator was blabbering on about Bellamy, and I suddenly had this very strong feeling he would score in this game. Well, he promptly headed in from six yards after the ball swooped over the entire Blackburn defence. It was weird, to say the least. Anyway.. the game was all Liverpool after that, but Blackburn's defence held firm and they came away from Anfield with a deserved draw. Now we're eight points behind the leaders, but that's not the key issue at this stage of the season - it's more important for Liverpool to start showing sustained improvement, and soon

Wow, I am really suprised that Liverpool is off to this bad a start. Man-U keeps rolling.

Anyone catching this Arsenal vs Watford game? Henry is making a meal out of these defenders...I love Man-U but I gotta say Arsenal is the best possession team in the EPL. They move the ball around so well and creatively it is amesome to watch...take some notes boring ass chelsea.

Btw....get ready for the HUGE Champions League showdown: Barcelona vs. Chelsea on Wed. 10/18

A lot of great goals. I especially enjoy watching the bicycle kick ones. For those who are too lazy to click on the links, here they are:

Chelsea have beaten Portsmouth 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.. Manchester United vs Liverpool is coming up next. Huge, HUGE game - especially for Liverpool, who can't afford to lose any more ground on the league leaders. I am freakin' nervous :(

Who are the Man U fans here? Rivaldo2181, RocketFan007, ferrari77.. can't remember anyone else. Whereas I seem to be the only Red in this thread (along with arno the KOF, of course ;)).. oh well

LET'S TWAT THE BLOODY MANCS!! GO LIVERPOOL!!

Full-time score: Manchester United 2-0 Liverpool

Credit to the scum, they played us off the park. **** we stink.. time to call it a season I guess
