Dear Texas, Thanks for giving us and our conference another shot at an SEC school in the BCS championship game Signed Penn State fan
Totally neutral view here (went to TCU) Mack Brown's clock management was pathetic on that last drive. All of us watching the game were like, "WTH is he doing getting the ball snapped with 20+ secs on the play clock each time????" Sure enough, Tech had enough time to score Great game. Mack lost that for Texas. Great job, Raiders...
Great game last night. Coming from the perspective of at UT fan here - tough way to lose the game but Tech outplayed the Longhorns for the majority of the game. Just shows what kind of team Texas has when they have an off night offensively and defensively and are just a few plays short of still winning the game. Most teams would have laid down and given up in such a hostile environment. If I had to rank the teams right now I'd move Alabama to 1, Penn State to 2 and Tech to 3 Florida to 4 and Texas to 5 based on yesterday's games. The Longhorns still have the chance to make the Big XII title game but will obviously need some help. A 10 win season is a definite possibility for the 'Horns. Tech is in the driver's seat for the Big XII title and the chance to play for the national title. It's theirs to lose. Harrell also moves past McCoy in the Heisman race. I have a feeling that Penn State will be the only unbeaten team left playing for the title with a bunch of 1-loss teams vying/campaigning to play them. Texas strength of schedule will help them but they need a lot of help.
I disagree. You can't assume your team is getting a touchdown when you are down 6. It's not like they could fool around and be assured that the opportunity was there for the taking. If they were down 2 and could kick a game winning field goal you can work the clock more.
I agree...they got beat because Tech was ready early, and UT's secondary played terrible late. Gideon....oh Gideon....what happened? DD
So now we're looking at an Alabama/ Penn national championship assuming they win out -- will Tech even have a shot if they run the table ? /go TTech
Let's be honest here, Tech will get destroyed at OU...because OU can control the clock with their running game.... Tech played about as perfect as they can, and beat a better team do to them wanting it more and having a wonderful game plan on both sides of the ball. Against OKSU...it is a tossup...but I don't think they stand a chance in Norman with Hunter running the ball and Bradford passing it. DD
With 2 minutes left, you're not getting the ball back regardless against the Tech offense. You're already inside the 15 yard line with 2 timeouts. There's no way you don't run clock. If you don't score, you lose anyway. If you do score, Tech gets a chance to win. Every team/coach runs down the clock in that situation. For a great example of that, look back at USC-Texas. On the last Texas drive to take the lead, they ran tons of time off the clock between plays. It was the exact same situation here.
Tech would be ranked #1 or #2 if they win out. In the Sagarin poll, they already got to #1. Their remaining schedule will include OU, OSU, and Mizzou and would cause them to jump Penn State in the polls. The computers really don't like Penn State either - Texas is at #3 ahead of them in Sagarin.
I don't think Tech played nearly as perfect as they can. They left a lot of points on the field with field goals instead of TDs and with that fumble turnover. Their lines played phenomenally well, but their QB/WR/RBs played a normal game and they really didn't do a good job scoring points given how well they moved the ball. The problem they'll have is that they won't be at home. But OU's defense has been suspect this season, so they may be moving the ball up and down the field with OU as well.
But Major that offense always bogs down in the red zone because the defense compresses and doesn't have to worry about the stretch play. It is a weakness of the run and shoot in general. DD
That's certainly possible - I haven't watched Tech nearly enough this year to know if it's been a problem all season long.
I guess its a good thing Texas plays at a neutral site or Texas would get not stand a chance in Norman as well. Tech played far from perfect, the first half yes we did. 2nd half we crumbled till the very end. Neither team IMO is better than the other team, both have strengths both have weaknesses. We had flaws in our gameplan just we had enough fight to pull of the upset. Just a few Texas fans like you underrated us quite a bit, which is why you were suprised that Tech won. The perfect game I thought Tech played was against Kansas on the road. I don't care how big of a homer you are Tech this year a rarity is just as good as Texas. As for the OU game it is too early to tell. Tech still has a huge task in getting there vs. OSU. It is going to be interesting how Tech responds to have its biggest win ever in its history. But keep on doubting on us, we are on a mission this year to prove those doubters wrong. Wreck EM Tech!!!
Texas in Norman would probably lose, yes. Tech would lose to Texas in Austin, and in a nuetral site. The difference for Tech is that they were really jacked last night, while UT came out flat.... UT comes out jacked for OU, not for Tech.....big difference. And Tech barely won a game in which UT played pretty poorly. DD
Any spread offense has that problem in the red zone, it takes pinpoint precision to score...... Which is why it is not prevelant in the NFL...where DBs are just as fast as WRs... DD

Well I guess it matters what kind of glasses you are wearing. Being a Texas fan you think you played poorly which in the 1st half you did. But in the 2nd half we played just as bad any knowledgable Tech fan would know that. I will just give the credit to both teams for making the other team look bad. I suppose Tech gets fired up the way Texas does for OU, when we play Texas.
