I expect Crabtree to have an average game. He is a remarkable talent but you could tell last week he is still favoring his ankle he injured on a kick off return against A&M. I expect 80-90 yards and a touchdown.
As a Tech student here, I hope you UT guys/ fans w/e are ready. Our fans here are guaranteed to make you feel as miserable as possible. I would love to see the upset, tears, and anger from UT fans since some are a little too prideful of their team. lol Definitely the most exciting game ever in Lubbock, Tech is going to have to get the offense into rhythm early in the game (won't be so easy with Orakpo and the d-line). Our run game isn't the best but it compliments the passing game of Tech very well so hopefully, well be able to run the ball when we need to. Once again, defense is going to have to step up and try to limit Colt McCoys options and get him pressured. I would say double on Shipley but that would leave Cosby and a few other receivers and running game to open up. LOL so gl Tech. TEJAS TECH 31 TEJAS 28
Haha I tried ordering pizza this week, after Tech scored 9 touchdowns. They said they were not doing it. Is it only right by campus, I tried calling the one on 4th street. It could only be a home game premotion as well.
Yeah... against mediocre teams. Quite an accomplishment there. My God... you guys fail at predictions. If Tech is going to win this game, it's going to be in the 40s or 50s. NO WAY Tech holds UT under 30. Enough with the claims you're passing off as fact already. Tell you what. Beat UT, OU, and OSU. THEN tell us you have the best offense and offensive line. Until your team does that, I'm not going to take you seriously. UT has a young secondary but they were without Chykie Brown in the OSU game. He'll be back for Tech. I don't think you even have the best offense or offensive line in your conference. It's still a debate between Tech with UT, OSU, OU, and Mizzou. But we all know about your poor defense. Still can't believe you let A&M and Nebraska hang with you guys as long as they did. But I guess beating up a ridiculously overrated Big 12 North team fixes everything LOL. That's what everyone said about Dez Bryant when we played OSU. He ended up with a total of 4 catches or something like that. Like Will Muschamp said - "stats are for losers". Our rushing defense has been overrated looking at the stats, and our passing defense has been underrated from looking at the stats. Tech isn't nearly as balanced as OSU is, so that's why they won't be nearly as effective against UT's defense. And playing on the road is overrated as far as what effect is has on the game. Sure, it's going to be fun for the Tech fans - this is their Superbowl. We've won in Lubbock before. Regardless, if your defense can't find a way to consistently stop McCoy, especially on 3rd down situations, surrender like a pirate would.
I waited at the one on university for an hour to get my 9 buck discount, it wasn't worth it! Yeah, OU last year was very mediocre. You can jaw all you want when you get top 5 recruits every single year, I don't care, but when you lose to a team that doesn't have anything close to what you do, you s-t-f-u. And that's what probably will happen..
we all know why tech won that game. bradford got knocked silly and they had no QB depth. most teams that get that lucky break will take advantage of it, which is what happened. don't even try to pretend that losing bradford should have been no sweat...
Jajajajaja!!!!!!! Coach Jack Sparrow ain't ever gonna put the game in the hands of a walk on. No sir. He'll throw a hail mary on 4th down before kicking a field goal.
Every year we hear about how Tech has the best offense in the world. Every year we hear how UT cannot handle them. Texas will win in a relatively close but somewhat high-scoring game. Texas - 45 Tech - 31 It will be a good game.
Wow you beat Oklahoma and now you can not be stopped. Like I said earlier I had been a Longhorn fan a lot longer than I have been a Tech fan. As for the offense and line that is my opinion, I could really careless what you think of it. Yes we have a poor defense but so does everyone in the big 12. Tech has the most takeaways and gives up the 2nd lowest points per game. But those stats are skewed since we have not played anyone. As for Dez Bryant and you containing him you did. But you don't need to throw the ball that often when your RB has 18 carries for about 160+ yards. So far like Texas we have taken care of business, we have not beat anyone to the talent Texas has but we will face them later on in the season. You are right this is Tech's superbowl biggest meaningful game ever in Tech's history. But in college football every game has that quality because if Texas loses who knows if they make it to the BCS championship or win the big 12 south for that matter. Playing on the road might be overrated but I would be willing to bet you would rather play us at home then on the road. We play pretty well here in Lubbock. And for that last comment on Colt McCoy and 3rd down conversions, ditto for us as well. Nobody has been able to stop Colt McCoy so far which is why he is leading the heisman candidate race so far. Texas Tech is a pretty good 3rd down conversion team as well. Not many people thought you stood a good shot at being OU this year, but you did, and I was happy for you guys I will root for Texas 10 or 11 times out of the year. Who knows maybe Tech can suprise people and pull the upset.
We all know how UT won at tech last time too..referees sure made that game a load of crap. If you want to start going into exceptions for every game played, then lets pull out the 25 mile long list of excuses...
LOL @ not even acknowledging why you won that game. Sounds like a lot of whining here. We get the best recruits because "We're Texas". Best recruits don't always mean best team though. You still have to develop the talent. WAAAAAAAH! You lost because your defense sucked. That's probably why you'll lose to us again, and to OSU, and to OU. Last year was an obvious down year (yet we still win 10 games, it's great to be a UT fan). Our defense was bad last year. This year we got Muschamp and better players. Two years ago, the reason we lost to A&M was the same reason we lost to K-State the week before, Colt McCoy's stinger.
OK rookie, you can spew all the LOLZ and HAHAHAHAs you want, because that clearly makes you the winner of any argument, or probably just another version of internet little man syndrome. I guess if Colt Mcflop gets hurt and Tech wins then it's invalid. To the rest of the UT- Fans, tip of the hat to y'all and hopefully a good game ensues.
to the refereeing in the game last year, i concur with "weh weh weh weh weh" - play defense, stop charles from rushing, stop mccoy from vy-ing on you, stop anything and you probably have a good shot at winning. texas held the ball for 40 minutes and tech couldn't rustle up more pirates to play some defense. and way to twist out a sour grape argument - if you re-read the posts, i'm saying tech beat a good team (not "mediocre") in ou in 2007, but got a lucky break because bradford got knocked out in the first quarter... and it wasn't because of your defense. reading comprehension must not be a strength at west texas technical college. i fully expect a scary game. tech, at night, in lubbock, around halloween... this game will change every time the wind blows. given the outstanding QB competition, maybe literally.
thought about starting a new thread for this question, but I'll post it here: will Texas Tech move to number 1 in the polls if they win this game? TTU is currently 5 in the coach's poll and 6 in the ap. I believe UT was in a similar ranking when they made the leap to #1 after their win over then #1 OU. Could Tech make this same leap to number one? UT did win on a "neutral" field though.
Only if they win in way that shows they can do it against anyone. They have to beat Texas with Texas playing close to their A game.
I think Tech will move up but to only #2. We are still slotted pretty low in the BCS polls, and USC somehow is ranked 4.
I watched a good part of the TT/KU game this weekend. What I saw was an offensive line that does a pretty good job...against teams that don't have any speed and size on the DL as Texas does. The huge splits worked in UT's favor against Missouri. I believe TT sets up ever farther apart. That OL they call "Mankind" is not going to know what hit him. Fat and slow is not a great combination against fast and big. Harrell is going to hit the turf a lot in this game. I still think there's going to be points galore. I don't think the TT defense is nearly good enough. They're going to have to play out of their minds. Texas 49 TT 38
