I didn't get to see the game (had to work)... wish I had. I'm a Longhorn fan, but I gotta say...Michael Crabtree is the next big thing among WR's. His interview after the game was pretty funny, too.
well, your way just lost the game. not sure how you can justify leaving lots of time on the clock for a team that was moving it on you all game and was only going to need to get in field goal range. not wanting to mess up your rhythm doesn't mean jack crap versus not leaving much time left. you can't always get what you want, certain things have to take priority. especially when it's pretty obvious they can't stop you at the moment no matter what. it's not like snapping it at 1 was going to make tech make a tackle.
that's great and everything you said is true, but if blake gideon catches the ball, then we just beat those other 3 teams of the same caliber. that is what national championships are made of. of course we're not the 2005 team, but those teams are rare. lsu won a championship with 2 losses, florida with 1, ohio state by squeaking by in damn near every game. we were about to beat 4 top 12 teams in a row, something that would have made us every bit worthy of being champion, something that hasn't been done in 65 years. not being ultra-dominant doesn't matter if you take care of business when it matters. blake gideon just screwed it all up. this post is equally weird and makes no sense. overachieving and being overrated are not the same thing. overrated means you haven't proven you deserve your ranking. by beating #1, #11, and #7, i'm pretty sure we had proven more than anybody that we deserved to be #1. there was no real way to say we were overrated. based on the last 2 years, you don't even have to win all your games to be #1, and losing to what will probably be the new #3 on the road on the last play of the game is better than any loss either of the last 2 champions have had. USC and FLA lost to significantly worse teams than we just did and OU doesn't have our quality wins. unless a team is undefeated, they don't deserve to be ranked above us (though i'm sure they will unfairly be).
Was at the game damn I don't think I can ever experience something that great ever. Tech played hell of a 1st half, 2nd half not so much and Colt turned into the heisman player he was the other 7-8 games. Both teams had their ups and downs. I wont go as far as saying the better team won, but there was no doubt in mind Tech wanted it more. Wish you Horns the best of luck the rest of the way. This was Tech, USC-Texas game, biggest game in our history and we came up on top.
Congrats, it was a HELL of a game. The defensive line played inspired and showed Texas' O-Line something they haven't seen before. Offensively, it was about expected - though I thought the lateral play Tech were running over and over again could've been stopped. They were running the lateral pass play to perfection. Enjoy it, but brace yourselves for the upcoming games.
God job Tech. You wanted it more. You pushed our OL for 3qts. Crabtree is the best player in the country and should move into the top 3 in the Heisman race. Again. kudos Tech. This hurts very bad. Texas made plenty of mistakes. Two dropped int by our saftes. Not doubling Crabtree on the final play. Pansy ass arm tackles. Lack heart by the OL., same bs officiating crew calling a horrible game for both teams. But no one and I mean no one deserves more blame than f-cking Mack Brown and his piss poor clock management on the final TD. How the f-ck do you snap tha ball with 21 sec left?!?!?! This sh-t falls on the coaches. This loss rests on Mack, Greg Davis, Major, Kennedy, graduate assistants, and waterboys for not reminding Colt to not go out of bounds and letting the clock run down to 1 sec before snapping the ball. Edit: The worst thing is because of clappys inability to manage a f-cking clock I have to root for the state of Oklahoma and its football teams to win and win big over the next month. Godamn shame!!!
Crabtree is an NFL reciever vs our teenage secondary. But you still double thier best player. If he scores he scores. Curtis was getting burned all night and you send him to single cover the best WR in college football.
What I don't understand is that 4 weeks ago, ESPN analysts were saying that if we were to survive this stretch then we would undoubtedly be #1. Suddenly we lose ONE of the four (on a last second play to the number 6 team on the road, nonetheless) and NONE of these "analysts" have us in their top 5. Why does it seem that Texas always falls farther than other teams after a loss? If we were USC we would probably move up after a game like this.
I think I understand your point. This team is not as good as the National Championship team cause that team was solid in every position. This team had three weaknesses, the running game and the secondary and Greg Davis and they were exposed. I do feel if Jamaal Charles didn't leave early this game would haven't been this close. But oh well. I hope he enjoys KC. As far as the heart and determination of this team, i'm still proud of them.
EXACTLY! we beat #1, #11, and #7 and then lose to #6, on the road, on the last play of the game, and now we're getting jumped by usc, fla, and ou? ou is the worst of all since we freakin' beat them. i don't care if you think they're better than us or not, we use what happens on the field, not on paper. i'm pretty sure if we played tech 10 times on a neutral field, we'd win 6 or more, but that doesn't really matter for rankings, because they beat us and that's that.
Not only that...That last play and decision by Crabtree to get into the endzone was kinda STUPID. If one or both the tacklers grab him and wrestle with him for a little bit, game possibly DONE. There was only 1 second left on the clock when Crabtree scored. Staying in bounds going into the endzone was actually not that smart. But it worked cuz he probably sensed all game the wussiness he was playing against and knew to exploit it.
I'm confused as to what happens with the Big XII. Let's assume TT loses one of the games against either OU or OSU...and OU wins out and Texas wins out, too. Who's playing in the conference championship at that point??
Well if OU wins out, then TT lost the game to OU... are you saying they lose to OSU also, or no? If Tech loses 2 games, then UT wins the tiebreaker against any 1 loss teams because of the head to head (assuming we win out). If Tech-OU-UT are all tied, then whoever is higher ranked in the BCS goes to the Big 12 title game.
I gotta give Tech credit for that one. They manhandled Texas in the first half. They deserved to win the game. Texas put up a helluva fight in the second half, though. It's tough for Texas to play without Quan and Orakpo. Brutal. Enjoy it Tech fan. Congratulations.
you answered my real question with your last sentence. my bet is that will end up being OU, but we'll see.
Oh dear... I did not think Tech was legitimate... PSU BAMA championship game. At least tOSU should get a bowl game now.
