Yeah, that was an awful call by Davis. As good as Texas is, they still can't run the ball with regularity. It's just not their style. And to do it from the one-yard line, and risk that kind of momentum... I don't get it. Momentum is a huge deal when you're talking about a slightly less talented team, like Tech, going up against their first elite competition of the season. Part of the battle is whether they mentally believe they're there. Tech OL holding up a lot better this drive -- that was my biggest question mark about them heading into this.
It's 5-0 but could've been a lot worse. I'm actually feelin kinda good with this. Two Tech possessions and zero touchdowns. They won't be able to down us at the 1 yard line every time.
although texas has looked terrible offensively, I feel pretty good our D is stepping up, and our receivers arent going to drop passes all night we will be ok
Tech's O-line, despite the score thus far, is having trouble containing the bull rush of UT's front four. Thats why Harrell had to immediately scoot out of the pocket 4/5 of those possessions. I think you have counter that somehow by doing some stunts because Tech isn't a real threat on the ground.
Given the generous spot Colt got on his QB sneak, I'm not sure the refs are a fair target for the Longhorns...
I don't know why GD went with the Power I at the goal line...that told the defense what was coming...the old 32 dive....lol...too easy. Texas offense needs to answer, Tech will not get to Colt...he should have all day....the short passes are tough because Tech is playing 5 or 6 across the field......go to the midrange game 10-20 yards.....by running guys deep to push their safeties back and then work the space between the front 6 linebacker dbs and the safeties. Easy..their defense sucks. DD
I'm not sure what game you're watching... the biggest problem for Texas is that the Tech defensive line is controlling the game.
