Thanks man - I'll try that place out next time I'm down there. I remember as a kid growing up in the valley, the only bbq we knew was Joe Cotten's in Robstown. Good to know there's actually a good joint around.

Mann's is very good. They give you the option of lean or "with flavor", always take the flavor. Also, their ribs and sausage are better than their brisket. Plus, the people that work there are super cool. Great sides too.

Kruez Market is the best Que I've ever had at a restaurant. I can't wait to try Snow's BBQ.

Artz's Rib House for Pork Ribs, they're really damn good.

Rudy's for convenience and decent bbq. its good but not great as everyone says.

For Brisket in Austin I like Iron Works the best, but really I don't think there is that great of a brisket place compared to whats available in Lockhart, Luling, Llano.

Salt lick for the atmosphere, Rudys is better bbq, and I've been going to salt lick for 25+ years.

Never tried Mann's, will need to go there sometime.

Definitely need to try Snows as well

you shouldn't need sauce for good brisket

We went last weekend. We tried to order the day before and they were sold out - so order a couple of days in advance if you can. We got there at 8am and they were already out of ribs. By 8:30am, they were out of everything. It's a small place and they only do it part-time and don't plan to grow, so during the post-Texas-Monthly craze, they are going to be selling out early.

We had the sausage and brisket. Sausage was OK - not worth 8am, though. Brisket was the best I've had. I've been to Louie's and the Lockhart places (Smitty's, Kreutz) and this was definitely better.

Jesus, what in God's name did they put in that brisket?

And I get pissed when they run out of Ribs or Chipotle sausage at Muellers!

I had a bad experience yesterday at Mann's. The brisket was really good, the service was great and we got free brownies that were really good.

The bad part was that there was glass in our booth and our little daughter cut her finger. The glass had come from a hole in the window from a gunshot (seriously).

That wasn't really that big of a deal but this morning both my wife and I were sick to our stomach.

It's too bad because the food was really good but I can't see myself going back there for a while.
