anyone ever eating on Dowling street in the 3rd ward? always a bunch of bbq trucks selling food. anyone ever eaten down there?
pretty pissed at myself for having not tried Gatlin's yet, question for the regulars, is there a line when it opens at 11 on Saturday?
Texas Monthly's top 50 BBQ list. http://www.texasmonthly.com/eat-my-words/list-top-50-barbecue-joints Gatlin's BBQ & Catering, Virgie's Bar-B-Que, and Brooks' Place made the list from the Houston area.
I used to really like them but the last time I went was kind of disappointing. I've never had the ribs there before though.
i'll give a shot out for virgie. Place looks like a small crack house, but when you go in, all bunch of white business folks, no empty table at all. Briskets and ribs are their go to items.
Sweet. Pecan Lodge up here in the DFW area made Top 4. I still haven't tried it, but even Aaron Franklin said they do a good job. I see a lot of stuff around this area that I need to eventually try on that list.
Here is an article from Katy magazine with the best BBQ in Katy http://www.katymagazine.com/articles/2010/spring/Katy-texas-barbecue.pdf And I can personally vouch for Midway BBQ on Old 90. Attached to Midway grocery and they have an amazing butcher shop there.
damn it, that place looked good. its too bad i found it 5 minutes past closing time...grrrr! it was hidden in a corner in front of ace hardware lol. thanks, i ended up going to midway bbq and i was not dissapointed.
