No one has better sales than Dillards. Did any of you ever shop at the Dillards in Gulfgate when they turned it into a clearance center? Awesome deals. I never understood why Macy's never caught on here. Wasn't much different but I always thought they were more up to date. I guess Foley's just had too much customer loyalty.
This came out around March I think. The Chronicle did a big story about it. They focused on the Foley's downtown and how like 10,000 people came to the grand opening. It was one of the few big-time stores that non-whites could go to at the time. In the article, there was alot of history about the chain I had no idea about. I think Macy's should just leave it as Foley's. I mean, just leave it as a regional chain. I can't see any positives in changing the name.
I agree with this...It's a perception that Macy's is too expensive and snooty...Also, if there is something successful, why mess up the chemistry...I've alway's shopped at foley's and I wonder the same thing about the furniture as Foley's has good sales... Lastly, I've been to Macy's here in dallas a couple of times and when they have a sale, it's actully a really good sale, comparable to Foley's if not better...
i buy suits at Macy's for this very reason. virtually all of my clothes for work come from Macy's. they have tremendous sales and they have a couple of lines that fit me well which i can't find elsewhere (Alfani, particularly). the staff there has always been very helpful (speaking only of the mens' department, of course)...and i prefer that store, in general, to all other department stores.
You should give Simm's a try. Last years name brand fashions at a lot better price. For suits, at least to me, it's a no-brainer.
I remember being at the downtown Foleys when all of a sudden the Foleys employees locked all the doors on the Main Street side of the store. I looked out as an angry crowd was screaming and then a Klan march went by. I looked at my mom and said, "Cool Mom, and I thought we were just going shopping. I had no idea you were taking my sister and I to a Klan parade."
