I literally thought I was going to die the few times I had it. Interestingly my wife and her father have never had it, or at least at a sever degree. Makes me wonder they would have survived the Spanish flu and other stuff back in the day.

Never had a flu shot, never had the flu.

Someday I might regret this, but for now, meh.

Bah, I feel for ya man. The flu is some serious stuff...people play it off like 'ah I worked thru the flu' or 'I got the flu when i got the flu shot'. The flu knocks you on your ass and doesn't get off you for awhile. I got it one time when I was 17 and I've always gotten the flu shot every year since. You can tell when you have a cold and when you get the flu...the pain level and sickness is a magnitude greater...when you have it, it's easy to see why it kills people with compromised immune systems . :(

My GOD. A Benny Hill reference? I can't rep you enough....

Every year I get a flu shot, I get the flu. Last year I didn't get a shot and didn't get the flu. So....no shot for me this year.

I finally got my first flu shot ever the weekend before last. That same night...I felt really tired and didn't feel so great; crashed at about 8:30 pm on a Saturday. Then, the pain in the arm hit and lasted for about three days. No biggie but I did feel kind of out of it the same night. But, I'm not screwing around with the flu season any more. I got the flu two years ago and was pretty messed up for a couple of weeks. It completely ruined my x-mas holidays. I never felt so bad my entire life before that.

You do know that is just all random chance right?

How bad did you have the flu? Just by having the flu shot, you should have had some immunity to any of the flu viruses even if the flu shot didn't directly target the virus you got. If you didn't have a severe bout of the flu, then it is likely attributed to the fact that you had a flu shot.

But, you got the flu like anyone else does...which has nothing to do with the flu shot itself because that is nothing more than dead viruses injected into you to make your body build up immunity to those strains.

Think of the seemingly healthy people who get a serious flu virus, end up in the hospital in basically an induced coma, and do die. That is a real risk to doing nothing. It can happen to anyone.

I tried dragging myself to class and gave up after a few steps. Jesus Christ kill me.

I am definitely going to get a flu shot next year.

I haven't taken the flu shot in years and i feel quite healthy. The last flu i had was about 2 years ago. My immune system handled it like a champ. It knocked me down the first day/night with body aches, chill, and a fever overnight. But i was up the next day, though i felt a bit weaker and had less energy.

I've done my research & am convinced the benefits of getting a flu shot don't outweigh the risks, so I'm not getting one.

Copied & pasted a collection of all the most recent evidence I've come across below (spoilered for size):

This is exactly how I feel. First night I was hallucinating in my sleep. I feel a little better today but still in no condition to go to my classes.

Is it possible I don't have the flu and just have a really, really bad cold?

Me too! But it was new years eve of 2011. It was horrible though. Do not want. Have gotten the flu shot every year ever since and I get symptoms of the flu here and there but never like that one time.

I think you had the flu. When you get those type of symptons, it's most likely the flu. I don't know about the hallucination though lol, i don't think i've ever hallucinated when i got them.

I'm no expert, but if i had to get either the flu or cold, i prefer the flu. It hits harder, but i recover from it quickly compare to the annoying cold that last longer.

With a cold, there is no fever.
Other than that, symptoms are pretty similar.

Relax, people. I'm not blaming the flu shot for getting the flu...

Just saying in my case it doesn't necessarily prevent me from getting it. That's all.
