LOL at this comment. Most of the street fights end up in takedowns. People start boxing for like 30 seconds if that long then it always ends up on the ground b/c the guy who is getting his @ss kicked boxing always takes it there to have a chance.
sorry i havent seen too many street fights that are 1 on 1. MMA is useless if there are more than 1 person.
This would basically what would happen again The UFC guys . .. from what I seen would not be able to match handspeed so they would have to resort to trying to maneuver on the floor or something different or after the ordinary. Maybe a Rush the guy and take about 4~5 punches or something Rocket River It will happen in the next 5 yrs. . it has too . . .
If this is the case then no fighting style is efficient. Thats a stupid argument because it doesnt matter weather your boxing or MMA, if your not fighting a fair fight and everyone else jumps in your f*cked.
man, this crap is awesome. its the first step towards a boxing vs. ufc fight. people would pay big big bucks to see that, and i think it would be worth it. i hope the trash talk keeps coming until somebody actually agrees to a fight.
a boxer on his feet would definetely be able to handle more than 1 person much better than a MMA guy. They shouldn't even call it MMA anymore, when it started out, it was cool cuz you had guys actually doing martial arts, but now all they do is get on the mat as fast as possible. Just call it Wrestling, cuz that's all it is.
I see your point but either way if you can box and 6 guys jump in swinging your @ss is grass. My point is in a fair streetfight 1 on 1, in my opinion MMA wins because sooner or later most streetfights end up on the ground.
ok i'll agree with that. I always assumed street fights meant group. sorry I'm asian, we never do 1v1 streetfights
I would so watch this, but I doubt it would happen. This would be massive publicity/bragging rights for the winner.
neither a boxer or MMA fighter would have an advantage if they were against a group of people. And you should watch a little more MMA considering there are MANY different styles. Styles are what make for good fights. You have Judo, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, wrestlers, muay thai, freestyle, a little mix of everything, etc. A guy who is a jiu-jitsu fighter will of course want to take it to the ground while a muay thai fighter will want to stay standing. That is part of the beauty of MMA, who can execute their game plan the best. Can the jiu-jitsu guy get the muay thai fighter to the ground? When you have a fight like Cro Cop vs. Noguiera one fighter is going to do everything possible to keep it standing and the other to get it to the ground and try to get a submission. When fighters are on the ground there is constant action with trying to get good position and transitioning that into a better position like going from side mount to full mount. Some like to ground n pound and others like to work for submissions while on the ground, and others just want to get back up to slug it out. Some fighters (mostly pure wrestlers) do stall the fight on the ground, which you have the same of in boxing. Guys that just outwork their opponent while never putting them away for good because they know they are ahead on the cards and if they just ride it out to a decision they will win. Considering growing up boxing was my favorite sport I just can't ever feel the same way about it since MMA came along. Just my opinion.
If a top UFC fighter could box at an elite level....he would box. If a top boxer could UFC fight at an elite level...he would box. As Mayweather says....millions vs thousands. Untrained, they would each excel under their own rules. Who's to say what would happen if a top boxer, given enough time, would train seriously for UFC.
Boxing has been around a lot longer and has built up a bigger audience. Of course people would choose to go into boxing if they had the choice. That doesn't mean that a boxer would automatically be a great MMA fighter. Basketball players make more than football players, that doesn't mean that if you put Kobe Bryant in the NFL he will dominate, it just means that those whose skills make them elite basketball players are fortunate that their talents earn them a bigger payday than those whose skills make them elite football players.
I was resonding to this quote. Granted, from the UFC president. It seemed to imply boxers really wished they could be UFC fighters....when the opposite is probably true.
yes they are the top fighters get about 2-3 million per fight. In the next 2 years top MMA fighters will be making more than any top boxers.
Because organizations like the UFC and Pride basically proved that most 'traditional' martial arts are bogus and worthless.
