If my memory serves me right, Cat wasn't keen on drafting Yao, but once it's done, Cat has quickly adjusted his role & been very supportive of Yao.

For most players, careers are in two phases. There are a couple of RARE occasions where a player comes out of high school/college ready to sacrifice self for wins.

Phase one is about individual accolades and phase two is about championships. It looks like T-Mac and Kobe had theirs, but only in reverse for Kobe. He's had the championships, but never an MVP or scoring title, or total credit, whether it's good or bad. T-Mac has the scoring titles, total blame and praise, and a couple of MVP caliber seasons, and now he just simply wants to win titles.

Even Jordan had to get help eventually, and Kobe will see that eventually.

There were alot of people who wanted to trade the Pick for Odom. Also on this board. Some people had either Pro-Ming or anti-ming in their sig. to show if they wanted to draft yao or draft williams or trade the pick for Odom.
