Because the Heat are going to be title contenders next year? Maybe, but Shaq/Kobe/Malone/Payton couldn't beat the Pistons so I see no reason why the Heat will be able to.

More likely, these free agents are seeing craploads of money coming their way.

There hasn't been one case yet, in my opinion, where we could say the Rockets should have offered more for player X.

But the guy we did ask didn't want to come either.

Mike James looks OK to me...if it means that we save the big money for a trade or FA signing next year. Let's not rush into a bad PG contract again, please! The last thing we want to do is hamstring ourselves just to try to be a title contender for 04-05, which we won't be. 05-06 is our year!

I would love to get Daniels, but can someone tell me why Seattle would prefer Fisher?

Or they thought they'd always be journeymen making only 1 or 2 mil per,at best, for whatever is left in their careers and suddenly found a market gone crazy this summer with teams throwing 6 year/$40 mil deals at anybody that's ever laced up a pair of sneakers.

If I'm an average Joe role player, with no certainty of how much longer I'll be in the league...do I sign with for minimums and hope I can leave with a ring, or do I take a guaranteed wad of cash and whatever happens, happens? Hmmm, methinks the choice is very easy.:D

I agree with both of you.

I would take Snow, however, if and only if Dalembaert were added.

Oh yeah I forgot about Snow. I would love to have him. The 76ers got a new point guard, right? Can Eric Snow shoot from beyond the arc? Catch and shoot? He could probably work on it..

He's successfully done it 41 times - in his 9 year career. I think his % is around 11.

Its not just Daniels v. Fish straight up. Its Daniels v. Fish and what we would give them (for Daniels).

    Their focus is on Ridnour.

ONE guy chose a team over us, ONE guy. And he chose a team that is probably the favorite to win the title next year. The way teams are over spending why are there people shocked that the Rockets haven't gotten anybody yet?

Or maybe because the market place is ballooning and people are getting overpaid. It could be that.

"Fisher may be out of the Heat's price range and is more of a shooter than pure point guard, which the Heat already has in Dwyane Wade. Also, Fisher wants to start and the Heat can't guarantee that." South Florida Sun-Sentinel

We all know the Rockets would never overpay for anyone.

The only thing that gives me hope is that apparently there will be another group that's better next year. But we will still have some bad contracts on this team, Yao will be up for an extension, so there is no guarantee that we will be able to pay any of the guys next year either. If money is a problem with these guys, it will be a problem with those guys.
