Florida highway closed...3 possible terrorists arrested

When you can show me that racial profiling would be effective then I'll change my tune. You can turn a blind eye to all the terrorists who aren't of mid-eastern decent if you want. It's your loss, unless someone you miss actually does something.

So by using profiling 2 of these 3 get away. And the other one isn't from mid-eastern heritage, but some might think he was. Yeah, profiling really works.

Why stop the comparison? Drugs can be planted in someone elses baggage, so can explosives or plans, or communications. People who don't fit the profile can be used to smuggle drugs, or explosives or money, or fake ID's or whatever.

The comparison seems valid to me, and it helps to illustrate that Profiling isn't effective.

 

According to one of the guys, they actually paid twice.
Here is his version I happened to catch on one of the news channels(CNN?)

After the first car passed the toll booth, there were many police cars following it. so the guy in the secod car pulled into to the toll booth and asked the lady in the toolbooth like what is the problem, Did he not pay the toll. She replied No and she was standing with money in her hand and looking confused. So he paid for both the cars.

 

Well in one of the examples I mentioned a terrorist did plant explosives in a white girl's backpack. Terrorists don't always go down with the ship. The attack at the university in ISrael was a planted device and not a suicide bombing.

 

Someone probably pointed this out pages ago but why would they have said anything in ENGLISH if they were serious? I know if I were involved with something nefarious I wouldn't speak about it in a public place at all, at the very least I would pick another language. So I'm sure if I overheard a conversation like that I would assume it was just an effort to make a point about the racism that they are experiencing. So why then do so many of us assume the worst of these men? My guess is that the underlying prejudices override our common sense.

 

Are you rolling your eyes at me or them? I am only repeating what they said. They stated that the first car paid, but when the second car pulled up, the toll attendant acted strange, so he asked if the first car didn't pay or something, she said they didn't so the second car paid again.

I imagine with what was happening that the story got screwed up. It sounds like the toll attendant was aware of what was going on. I did not hear a cop specifically state that they ran a toll, I only heard the media report it, along with a lot of other bed info that day.

Maybe I would act differently if I lived in the northeast, but I wouldn't hesitate to board the plane. I admit that I would watch them and how they acted prior to boarding, but I would go ahead and board and not worry about it. I am certain about that since I already have boarded planes with middle easterners, and I was as attentive to their actions to make certain that they weren't mistreated by others as to make certain they weren't suspicious.

 

In the Florida bar, also, right?

 

You can't help but wonder whether or not Atta et al wanted to get caught... and stopped. They were not very discreet on the day before.

 

We dont know. Same could have been said about these boys as well, if they were legit.

 

From an interview on Today:

They were talking about buying a car. If they didn't have enough money with them, they knew someone who did. If they couldn't find one in Miami, they were going to have a friend 'bring one down'.

They stated again that they did not run the toll booth.

They plan no legal action with the Georgia woman.

The Georgia woman said they were speaking both Arabaic and English, but only one of them speaks Arabaic.

They understand the hospitals decision to decide against them working there, for the safety of the patients (after the threatening e-mails).

I sense they are on the level and no bitterness. They seem mature beyond their years. I like these guys.
