get your facts right about fifa and soccer...

they actually give out yellow cards now to the flopper so in this case fifa >>>>>> nba

"Simulating actions intended to deceive the referee, such as diving."

...? Just because they give out yellow cards doesn't mean there's not a ridiculous amount of uncalled flopping. What was this about facts?

I think he is implying that FIFA penalizes floppers whenever they can, whiles NBA does not.

Yea it can get annoying, but hey when we get the benefit of the whistle then its okay by me.

The NBA is to blame for this. If you want to stop it, start giving out Techs.

But if you going to do that then lets get rid of the Superstar calls while we are at it.

And we all know neither of these things are going to go away.

The problem is that the players are a bunch of girls and pu**ies and the refs allow them to be. A little tap here, and a touch there, they call a foul - and inconsistently at that.

I've been watching a lot of the old school basketball games and they played physical as hell. That's what a MAN's sport is.

Quality of the NBA is garbage now - thanks Stern and Donaghy..

In soccer, flopping is when you leap on the ground when there's *no contact*, you don't get a yellow card for exaggerating the contact, only for inventing it with your dive. There's very little of that at all in basketball.

Yes, our players flop. But they are not the worst floppers. The real "pros" flail their arms, act like they just have been shot, and have no intention of making the shot. Nowitzki is one example of that.

Lowry and Martin don't fake contact. They draw contact while actually trying to make the shot. What I don't understand is why defenders keep fall for Martin's tricks.

Wait, wait, wait. What's the question here?

    The title asks

    1. If there is disdain or admiration for flopping.

    The poll asks

    2. If it should be the primary form of offense.

The post then goes on to say

    3.
    Those are all different points.

I always believed flopping to be acting like you got fouled when there was no foul or barely getting fouled and embellishing. Of course that sucks. I think that for the most part everyone would agree.

Should flopping (acting like you got fouled when there was no foul or barely getting fouled and embellishing) be the primary form of offense? Nope. That's no fun either and thats where we fall into relying on the refs to get the call as our main source of points. That's not smart basketball either.

Trying to draw contact instead of making a shot? In and of itself, well, that's not flopping. Yeah it would be nice to go for the shot and if you get fouled, you get fouled but that doesn't make for efficient basketball. And I think it's been pretty well documented on this forum that Daryl Morey likes efficient players like KMart and Lowry.

When dictator sperm dies (since it seems like he's gonna be commish for life), I hope the new one would at least take a serious look at the ref and flopping.

One thing they could do is subtract a point (or two) for every flop a player gets caught doing, plus adding a personal/team foul, and a turnover. I don't think fining players will work, so maybe this might.

Or maybe they should just let players kick Kryinglenko's knee caps for every flop that he does. /wishful thinking

Guys admit its the only way we can get easy points are Free throws and since Kmart is a goood at the free throw line its good for us, use it in are advantage.

i voted admiration. and here's why, i just enjoy us getting the free throws and our team makes a high percentage of it. the jvg years, we were the ones giving away fts and not making enough. and now, just watching the ref bail kevin martin out just makes me feel happy. its a good feeling.

honestly, ive become more of a houston rockets fan than a basketball fan. doesnt matter how 'ugly' our team's game is, id rather watch the rockets over a 'good' team like the lakers or heat or celtics. gimme kyle lowry shooting free throws over kobe making last second fadeaway game winners anytime.

    hahaaaaaaa!!!

It's pretty sad when one of the most unbiased, even-handed people on the forum is pointing this stuff out now.

I will say I agree with DD (before he changed his mind) that if the refs are going to allow flopping then the Rockets need to continue doing it.

Get that trash out of here. Scola is now flopping BECAUSE of Kmart? Did you just start watching the Rockets? Scola has been a flopper his entire career. Same with Lowry.

"Is Kevin Martin Fool's Gold?" blew up in your face so now it's "Is Kevin Martin a Flopping Cancer?" Nice.
