I agree. I feel like 3 seasons would be a sweet spot for a show like this. Of course, what happens in the TV industry is that the show gets canceled before that because of low ratings, or it gets stretched out longer than originally planned to milk ratings, often at the expense of quality. I would love to see TV shows that have a pre-formulated number of seasons based on the story that end when the story was scheduled to conclude, regardless of ratings. Sort of like a longer mini-series.
A show like lost did not seem like it would work long term either, but they kept thickening the plot and making the show deeper. I can see them doing that here too. I thought the visions of the savant guy were interesting, almost seems like he saw an alternate reality or something
I know what you mean but like Franchise3 mentioned I think it work best if it were done in limited seasons with a clear end in site, ala Lost.
Yep, you can pretty easily correlate the "down" seasons of LOST with the timeframe between where all the introductory storyline was laid down and the point where the producers received an end date. If LOST could have shaved some of the down episodes out, I can only imagine how much better the overall series could have been.
More or less, that is what he saw. Like Dyson Frost, he was able to see many different possible futures during the experiments. If you subscribe to the "many-worlds interpretation" (which Lloyd mentions to Olivia in a previous episode), there basically exists a universe in which Lloyd and Olivia met at Harvard and are together. It seems as if somebody wants to steer the current reality down the path of that particular different future that the savant guy saw. The Many-worlds Interpretation illustrated by Schrodinger's Cat (which is actually explained in a previous episode by Simon): Spoiler
Show is definitely getting better every week. Last nights was pretty damn entertaining. I agree, on how they should...and most shows like this, should have a time frame set out. Not just keep stretching the shows till one day it's dropped. That's why mini series are so good.....so make these like....medium series.
Looks like it's been axed.... "Chuck" & "V" Renewed, "FlashForward" Axed By Garth Franklin Friday May 14th 2010 01:34AM NBC's "Chuck" and ABC's "V" look to have been finally renewed for next season reports The Live Feed. Both shows were 'on the bubble' due to modest ratings, yet both have proven steady performers in their timeslots. Both are expected to receive thirteen-episode orders for next season. Meanwhile, ABC has picked up seven pilots for next season, ordering series for a procedural, three dramadies and three comedies. The dramas include Jerry Bruckheimer's perspective-shifting legal procedural "The Whole Truth", the documentary-style dramedy "My Generation", the superhero drama "No Ordinary Family", and the Michael Imperioli-led cop dramedy "Detroit 187". The comedies are multi-cam romantic comedy "Better Together" about two couples, the Matthew Perry sports manager single cam comedy "Mr. Sunshine", and the Elisha Cuthbert-led young romance comedy "Happy Endings". To make way for these new shows, several of the network's existing series have been officially cancelled - "Romantically Challenged," "Scrubs," "Better Off Ted" and most notably serial drama "FlashForward". http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/17185/-chuck-v-renewed-flashforward-axed
I know, I've been watching it and liked it more as it goes. If they haven't wrapped up the storylines in what they have shot, hopefully they'll be given the chance to shoot something.
RIP FlashForward. Despite its mediocre acting, I was starting to enjoy it more than LOST. It seemed like the show was starting to find a good flow and that the creators had a focused storyline.
I love Gabriel Union but MAN . . .when you see her on a show . . u know it won't last! My poor girl is CURSED!! CURSED I TELL YOU!! Rocket River
Sci-Fi Channel should pick this up. would be good for them to have a GOOD SHOW that is not so hokey Rocket River
NOOO! I can't believe they are letting Flashforward go, imo its original. I too felt that the show was getting better each week.
I liked Better Off Ted and Flash Forward. Sorry to see them go. The new Scrubs just didn't have enough chemistry to go on. I thought Flash Forward deserved another season but I guess the ratings must have been very poor. I'm one of the 5 people that watched and liked Better Off Ted.
