Fla. Teens Believe Drinking Bleach Will Prevent HIV

Yes she is but her political opinion sucks!

 

I saw this on Bill Maher, mentioned by congresswoman Barbara Lee as if these kids in Florida being grossly misinformed has anything to do with the political issue of sex education. I mean, did their schools misinform them? If I understand her point, she is alluding that the schools should have preemptively warned these kids that drinking bleach will not serve any purpose other than suicide. The mistake that the kids made is STUPID, STUPID. This is not "I won't get pregnant" or "I won't get infected" or some sort of preventable ignorance. This is not a popular rumor or trend among kids, this is the dumbass mistake of an isolated group of kids. I can't stand when politicians come on Real Time and project isolated statistics or instances on a macro level, as an indictment of 'the system' as if the reason the kids drank bleach was because their sex educator didn't tell them not to.

I love watching Bill Maher because the discussions are generally very honest and unregulated, but I couldn't stand Barbara Lee this past week.

Also, the 'fine black chick' is Amy Holmes. My roommate and I were just arguing over whether or not she is hot. I don't see it. A little too much of a rugrats thing going on with that hair.

Yeah, it's interesting how they managed to sneak that jab in there... If anything, wouldn't teaching alternative methods of contraceptive be more likely to encourage bizarre sex hacks like this since abstinence is billed as the ONLY completely safe act?

One of my college professors was married to a woman who taught sex ed after a long period of the school teaching abstinence only. She had to clear up all theses stupid misconceptions. He told us quite a few of them and it was mind boggling. Like if you douche with a Coke after you have sex, you won't get pregnant. If the girl is on top, she can't get pregnant. Jumping up and down after sex will prevent pregnancy.

According to the Jim Rome show, there are people who think drinking Dr. Pepper will prevent a pregnancy.

Having a sex ed class won't cure the kind of stupid that these kids are. Drinking bleach will prevent HIV. You can't get HIV if you have poisoned yourself to death.

Actually, placing anything (fluid) with/containing sugar in the birth canal it will most likely result in a yeast infection... and if that goes too long, having fertilized (conceived), it can lead to miscarriage.

So... in a round about, ignorant, sickening way.... some stupid aunt or big sister is passing along poor information that may in some way work, but is very dangerous to a womans' health.

That's why you only use the whipped toppings externally, kids.

I have no idea how this goes along with sex ed.

If anything, this should prompt Florida to look into how to teach their students not to be idiotic.
