You should have come to my school. When I was there, the band director got fired for sleeping with a student. Then the principal resigned after it'd been discovered that he'd been cheating on his wife (who taught freshman English) with the middle school guidance counselor. Both the principal and the guidance counselor had daughters who were still in high school at the time. It was a mess. I know this stuff is not that uncommon, but it's still sad, especially when you consider the repercussions that it has on families.
wow, that's a lot of unprofessionalism in one school... sounds like "Boston Public". My high school band director was a jerk who sexually harassed his students for years. He would flirt with a lot of the girls right in front of everyone, and sometimes grabbed them (or kissed, or said more explicit things) if they were alone with him. My friend says that she believes the principal knew, but chose to keep it covered up. The parents didn't know, but I believed at the time they did. Didn't everybody know? The lesson that we learned was that some things are just tolerated, whether they should be or not. There were promising girls who dropped out of band so as not to deal with it, and others who just laughed it off and believed it must be acceptable. (No, he didn't do anything to me. Every girl wasn't his "type".) The year after I graduated, someone did turn him in and the new principal wasn't so sympathetic. Even though he got fired, apparently the students circulated a petition to bring him back, and people were pressured to sign it. I don't get this. He wasn't even doing that great at his job, and I don't think the female students found him attractive. Maybe that whole system was so messed up that people had no idea how things were supposed to be.
When I was in High school, it was the other way around. Mark Knoblauch (Chuck Knoblauch's brother) was the high school coach at Bellaire. He got busted for statutory rape of three girls that were there. I knew two of the three quite well. The funny thing was that the only reason he was busted was that one of the girls found out about the other two. More of a jealousy thing than a rape thing. That said, teacher's should be punished if they can't control themselves until after graduation. For example, I went to high school with the current football coach at Bellaire. He has told me that he has hooked up with ex-students on several occasions. He just waits until they're 20-21.
I never knew this! When I went to Bellaire, back in the stone(d) age, I had Ray Knoblauch (Chuck's Dad) as my coach. He would make us run until we dropped, and after we dropped, he would stand over us and yell stuff like "you want to eat another cheese sandwich, boy?" But I don't think he ever hooked up with any high school girls. He was too old and crusty.
In middle school my female algebra teacher used to wear skirts with no panties and made sure everyone got a view. She didn't say, "Hey look at this!", but she would sit with her legs open. I am not sure if she ever did any of the students, but she definitely enjoyed the students looking at her.
Ray was crustier and older when I was there. He was in more of an ancillary role, with Marc being at the helm. I am surprised you missed this. It was all over the news for a month! From what I recall, he was fired. His wife stayed with him, and all the girls were outed for the incident, causing 2 of the three to change schools due to embarassment. Ironically, the one girl who stayed was the one who told on him. She ended up dating one of my best friends after the incident.
Wow. I lived in LA at the time, so that's why I never heard of it, but I'm surprised none of my Houston friends told me about it. Thanks for the info. Did Marc serve any jail time?
It's been awhile, but from what I recall, he got it dismissed. He was still fired, though. As I remember it, he was able to get it dismissed because the girls either didn't want to testify, or they didn't want their sexual history exposed. This was in 88 or 89, and all the girls were 16 or 17.
"Crazy? I'm crazy?" "It's a nice day for a... White Wedding... A Nice day to... Start Agaaaaaaaaain!"
I think I got it...She's beautiful, and her husband, poor guy...I think it affects the guy from an ego perspective...IMO, she just liked it being forbidden...
I remember when someone posted the link to the police reports here last year. Good read. Supposedly she told the kid that her husband couldn't satisfy her and then they did it in the backseat of her SUV while the kid's 14 yr old cousin was driving. Crazy story. And then her husband goes on 20/20 like a wimp and says he'll stick by her, and then he files for divorce. I mean, next to Doug Christie, this guy has feel like the most burned man in the country. Dang, that's worse than what happened to CWebbster...at least she didn't call up her hubby and tell the 15 yr old to stick it in her butt.
I forgot the name of it, but there's been instances where if the teachers are fired from eventual and repeated disgrace, the principal writes a glowing referral to the next school the teacher applies. The principals do it to dump the controversy on another school while avoiding it on their watch. I read about this when a serial sex offender finally got caught after bouncing around a few schools.
