A few teams in the league boast one of those 'guard their best player' type defenders.

In Ariza, Tucker, and Mbah a Moute, the Rockets have 3 of those.

    Morey is a genius.

Perhaps his opp % is down, but others are helping and his man is passing off leading to open shots. Wonder if we can get that data.

I actually took a look and in terms of opponent eFG%, Houston is actually only slightly better than average. Houston is average in opponent FG%, and a bit above average in defending opponent 3PT%. Although Rockets are top 5 in defense, the other top defensive teams are much better in actually causing misses.

But what Rockets are very good at are 3 of the 4 defensive 4 factors. Whilst our ability to cause actual shots to miss is only a bit above average (eFG%). We are the best in the league at limiting offensive rebounds, and top 8 team in both causing TOs and limiting free throws.

Basically, other strong defensive teams thrive by causing shots to miss. The Rockets thrive by basically not giving opponent's a chance to even shoot in the first place and fouling as little as possible.
