No, the Magic would need to send back around another $6 million in players/salary. https://tradenba.com/trades/nZmnI6_ya The Magic probably want back more, even though they are high on House for his pay.
Using your same players going out......here is a trade with Knicks as an example for not needing to match dollar for dollar because the Knicks team salary is currently at around $90M. https://tradenba.com/trades/M1Fm_Jzcz Houston in: Spellman / Nerlens / Alex Burks x Knicks in: House / EG / Tucker of course deal couldn’t take place until Burks and Nerlens clear the 3 months after signing period. Feb 23rd I believe. Rockets would clear about $15 million in payroll in the process.
Did you guys know Ben Simmons is the greatest defender since Hakeem & possibly better? According to 9897 CF users.
Just an example trade. How the Rockets can trade while shedding payroll. Needs to be with a team with lesser team salary. Yes Tate and EG works, but again would the Magic go for it? https://tradenba.com/trades/Hy_miQoTQ Someone was telling me Simmons/Seth Curry for Harden......yes the math works; but I wouldn’t take that deal. The math can work with any team......Magic can thrown in Fournier $17M for Harden.....doesn’t mean the Rockets should take it. Rockets don’t have to trade Harden and the Magic don’t have to trade Aaron Gordon. Will another team offer better for AG? Better than EG/Tate?
No one said that. However right now he maybe the best defender in the league and multi year defensive player of the year candidate
Definitely, another team can give a better offer for AG. Tate may be more acceptable than House despite being less talented, if he keeps on improving by the trading deadline. I'm not in favor of these offers for Harden either. The Magic don't have to trade Aaron Gordon, but they are stuck in no man's land. So are we to some extent. Harden needs more help, for us to become a contender.
I don't think he will ever win DPOY award. Unless Giannis, Kwahi and Bam all die during the same year.
I asked people what if the Rockets didn’t trade CP3. Just suppose we could have afforded a first round pick somewhere between 22 - 28. Here is a list of players drafted in that range: Pk #17 Alexsej Pokusevski ($3M) Pk #22 Zeke Nnaji ($2.4M) Pk #24 RJ Hampton ($2.2M) Pk #25 Quickley ($2.1M) Pk #26 Payton Pritchard ($2.0M) Pk #27 Udoka Azubuike ($1.97M) Pk #28 Jaden McDaniels ($1.96M) Pk #34 Theo Maledon ($2M) Would any of these players made the Rockets a stronger contender. Probably not. Keep Harden. Probably not. Not sure many teams value the Rockets 1st rd picks if they are making us better. Some team may find pick 23 thru 28 really good.......but they will all be borderline busts as well.
Kawhi is not the same defender he used to be. Simmons can virtually defend every position on the floor. He literally is locking down everybody he guards! It’ll be between him and Giannis
5 games in we have a below replacement level scrub in the starting lineup that according to a few metrics is the worst player on the roster that has logged at least 30 minutes total for the season. And some want to give him an extension
In short, I think we have a hole in the 3-5 spots because we've just let our frontcourt decay to nothing. In 2018, we had: Capela - Nene - Black Tucker - Anderson Ariza - Moute - Green In 2018-19 we started a front-court backslide: Capela - Faried - Hartenstein Tucker - Clark - House Shumpert - Ennis - Green That hit rock bottom last year: Tucker - J Green - Chandler Covington ... Thabo(?) House - Carroll(?) And has only just started to recover this year: Wood - Cousins Tucker House - Tate - Nwaba That 3 spot is mediocre at best and that 4 spot is just league worst. Some will argue that Wood is a 4 and I'm fine with that, but in that case the hole is at the 5 and I'd still like a backup 4 and a better 2-way 3. I love Morey but he really wrecked the front-court.
