Anyone using a chair like this and is it truly beneficial? Or just a fad? If it is beneficial, any local stores where I can buy it instead of online? Thanks.

Also, where's the best place to buy a home office desk strictly for a computer and two monitors? No need for cabinets and such. As much as possible, need something not expensive.

A loser I used to work with did this. Looked absolutely ridiculous, people made fun of him and eventually he replaced it with a normal chair.

Have you considered a standing desk?

    Whoa, that's very effective.

Just kidding. I saw the other thread.

Ok, if it's pointless then can anyone point me a cheap but decent office chair?

Forget the chair, just get the ball.

I thought the point of the ball was that you have to use at least a little bit of your core to keep it stable while sitting. Doesn't that chair/ball-holder eliminate that benefit?

Sorry, I didn't click the link. We tried fitness balls by themselves without the chair.
    Exactly.

Do you even know what this is? It is a fitness orb & it has completely changed my life. Forget everything you thought you knew about ab workouts- this ab workout is specifically designed to strengthen your core. Numerous health benefits: strengthens your back, better performance in sports, more enjoyable sex.

Office Depot or a similar store should have the type of inexpensive desk you are describing.

No studies really backing it up...the idea that it's good for your core because it forces you to balance is too simplistic. Yes, your body will look to stabilize, but the assumption that it will automatically use the proper core muscles is false. If you're already compensating and using the incorrect muscles to stabilize day to day, you'll likely continue to do so on that ball.

The issue is really sitting for too long, whether it's on a chair or ball. That's why I asked about considering a standing desk.

If price were no object, the Aeron Chair from Herman Miller. Unfortunately, they run $700+.
