As long as we can trade for Melo and acquire his Bird rights we could.

Now everyone would have to be on the same page I'm talking major tampering here lol because you need Melo to opt out after next year and wait for Lebron to resign here, you need Paul to wait it out also for Lebron and you need Lebron to decide early enough to set it all in motion.

Plus someone's taking a pay cut.

    Harden 30
    Lebron 30
    CP3 25
    Melo 25

    $110 million

    Hard cap 124

    Renounce/trade/lose
    Ariza, Gordon, tucker, etc

    ?/Melo/Lebron/Harden/CP

Jochi, Nene, wade, oliver, taylor, williams, min guys, ring chasers, and Bobby Brown of course

If we get melo next then I don't see why this wouldn't be in the works.

Meh...not really. Melo needs to waive his trade kicker. Wade would need to sign for the minimum after a buyout.

The roster requirements and $125 million hard cap would only apply for this season. We would retain the full bird rights to everyone and could offer Wade the taxpayer midlevel exception next season (which at this point in his career, probably isn't that far of from his value).

    CP3 / Taylor
Harden / Wade - on minimum vet deal (not BAE)
    Lebron / Williams
    Melo / Qi
    Capela / Nene

    2 minimum rookie deals

This should all fit under the cap. That said, Les Alexander would pay a historic tax bill the following year(s).

GS happened because Klay and Draymond are underpaid, Steph Curry was severely underpaid, and the cap jumped up by like 20 mil...crazy stuff would have to happen to have a Big 4 of CP3, Melo, Lebron, and Harden

Cleveland has Lebron, Kyrie, and Love, and they never have any money to do anything

I didn't mean sign him, I meant trade for him. And exactly, my main concern was the hard cap. Would there be a conceivable way to absorb him if he opts into next year while still keeping the core 4(Harden, CP3, Melo, Capela)??

If you are trading for lebron on a sign and trade you are hard capped.

If you aren't trading for him you would need to renounce melo and Paul and then sign them for less in order to get lebron.

You'll be close to 90 million just in hardens contract and the cap holds for melo and Paul

Won't Capela be a RFA next summer tho? He will have to get paid too and you're already at 110 mil with just 4 guys and still have to fill out the rest of the roster.

James harden is at 30 million and cap holds for Paul and melo would be right there as well. So you'd literally have no way to create max cap space without renouncing those guys, and if you did that you couldn't sign them back for more than the minimum or an exception.

    To trade for lebron Could be either;
He opts in like Chris Paul did. In this case you need to get salary together to being back 35 million. I'm not sure you could get there. Only contracts you'd have would be tucker Gordon and nene.

If you did a sign and trade you'd be hard capped.

There's no practical way to do it that doesn't involve the banana boat guys faking big paycuts

    Harden is around 30m
    Tucker is around 8m
    Nene is around 3m
    Gordon is around 13m
Cp3 cap hit is around 30m
Capela cap hit is around 5m
    Melo is around 28m

    That is roughly 117m

Trade Tucker, Gordon, Nene for nothing and renounce rights to free agents sheds roughly 29m

That leaves it at roughly 88m

With a projected 102m cap that leaves only 14m

That's all extreme rough and not counting capita for roster spots. Plus rounding to whole numbers.

    Tl;dr

    No, not into space

Right. Only way this fantasy happens is if those guys are taking dirt cheap deals

Lebron and Harden are arguably the #1 and #2 players in the game on the same team. Would be even more deadly than KD/Westbrook. CP3 is one of the best PG's ever and if healthy would be a top 10 player in the game. Melo is the scorer or the benefactor of this and is arguably a top 15 player in game when focused.

It would be unfair. The Warriors would be out in six MAX... BUT adding Melo opens up that possibility.

    Not next season.....this season.

    Here's the math:

    Hard Cap: $125.2 million
    Minimum Roster Spots: 12

    28.3 Harden
    24.3 CP3
    26.2 Melo
    33.3 LeBron
    3.4 Nene
    2.3 Wade
    2.3 Capela
    1.3 Taylor
    1.3 Williams
    0.8 Qi
    0.8 Oliver
    0.8 Min Rookie
    125.1 Total

Read above. Even this scenario requires big paycuts

Yeah, harden is already extended. So his hit is 30m.

Even if both melo and cp3 opt out and sign for 25m each, that's not enough. All 3 would have to take like 20m each. And that's still extremely pushing it without factoring roster spots and qualifying offers etc..

And jersey sales would be out of this world. Qi impact from China is YUGE. We would probably make it to the finals and would see the Warriors fade away as Thompson bolts for Lakers.
