Thank goodness! Atlantis was a horrible horrible show, imo. Never got into it. And I loved SG-1, but it lost a lotta steam after MacGyver left. At least we have the SG-1 Continuum movie to watch.
I don't think it's transitional. Sure, having Woolzy in as leader is a little jarring, but it's not like the guy is a completely new character. He's been around since SG1 times and still acts exactly the same way he always has. And Dr. Keller, the new doctor (she'll always be Kaylee to me, though), has been around since season 3, so I'm used to her now. And besides, the show has been shuffling in fresh blood for several seasons now, at a clip of one character replacement per season. Season 2 saw Ronon in and Ford out. Season 3 saw Keller in and Beckett out. Season 4 saw Carter in and Weir out. And in season 5, it's Woolzy in and Carter out. I call that a trend.
Good points. After reading your post, I guess maybe Atlantis just never quite found firm footing with me after the Wraith ceased to be the overriding enemy plot-line. The show never grabbed me like SG-1. Or maybe I need to read a synopsis of each season to figure out exactly when/why my interest dropped. I'm not that sorry to see it canceled.
