Pretend 3 and 4 never happened. This is a sequel to Superman II, sort of. As far as I can tell, instead of Supes realizing that the world needs him and telling everybody that he'll never let them down again, the world is mad at him because General Zod only came here because of him. So Superman leaves and goes looking for Krypton and then comes back 6 years later. There will be flash backs to his past to help some people catch up.
-Superman was mentioned, or appeared, on nearly every episode of TV's Sienfeld. -On the black and white Superman TV show, the Superman costume was actually brown! -When Superman started out in the comics, he could only leap, not fly. (about 1/8 mile) -Superman got Milk: http://www.thesupermanmovie.com/NEWS/GotMilk.html -Steven Spielberg was offered the chance to direct this film, but the producers balked at the salary he asked for. They decided to wait until they saw how "this fish movie" (Jaws (1975)) that he had just completed did at the box office. The movie was a huge success, and Spielberg went on to other projects. -To obtain the musculature to convincingly play Superman, Christopher Reeve underwent a bodybuilding regime supervised by David Prowse, the man who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars (1977) trilogy. -Clark Kent's hair and Superman's part on opposite sides. -Christopher Reeve dubbed all of Jeff East's dialogue as young Clark Kent due to the perceived discrepancy in their voices so as to maintain on-screen continuity East himself is never heard during the film. -The movie's original ending had Superman saving California, restructuring the San Andreas fault and then throwing the second missile into space which cracked the Phantom Zone and releasing the three super-villains. Superman turning the world around was originally conceived as the ending of Superman II (1980) to make Lois forget Superman's secret identity.
And this, folks, is probably the reason that they went with this costume after lots and lots of surveys and testing. Really, I hope this movie works. I have a lot of respect for a filmmaker trying to do a good Superman movie. Soooooo hard to come to a balance that will appeal to most of the people out there. Even with the costume. If they make it too 'new' the traditionalists will b**** (usually on the Internet) if they go too old style too many young kids will call it 'gay'. Then you have the old movies weighing against you, the effects work you have to get right, how to create a story that can hold the interest of a wide range of people....ugh. Too much damn pressure.
The comic series Sin City looked just like the movie does, way back in the 80s. It might be hip now, but it's not new and it's not why they did it in that instance. I'm conflicted on the Superman thing. The actor looks like Superboy, not Superman. The torso thing is weird. I kind of like the shield, the belt and the boots. I'd be more comfortable with the traditional costume, but I'm strangely okay with most of the changes. I don't see any similarity between this costume and the Max Fleischer one though. I don't know what they're talking about there.
Here are some new pics, including some of Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor: http://www.supermanhomepage.com/news.php?readmore=1036
Here's what always bugged me about Superman...how the hell does anybody not know that Superman is Clark Kent? Do Kent's glasses disguise his true identity THAT well?
I thought Parker Posey was going to play a character like Lex's female bodyguard/limo driver from the animated series, but she seems like comic relief. Spacey looks like a pimp though.
SNL did a really funny skit about this when "The Rock" was hosting and he played Superman/Clark Kent.. funny stuff..
I think she gonna play the part of the same woman from the original Donner film, can't remember her name. It would have been cool if they took some stuff from the animated series
Well, her character has a different name. In this, she's Kitty Koslowski and in the original 2 it was Miss Teschmacher. It looks like she fills the same role though.
Parker Posey wasn't in the first two at all. The character of Miss Teschmacher was played by Valerie Perrine.
I never said she was. GRENDAL was saying that maybe Parker was playing the role of Miss Teschmacher. I was saying that she plays a different character who fills the same role.
come on guys! the original superman movies were stupid and made no sense. Fly around the world to turn back time? honestly. THe new movie is paying attention to you know...science and won't be as corny as the old ones. GO BACK AND WATCH THEM! it's almost unbareable. Lex luthor wants to destroy calafornia so he can make money off a NEW west coast? honestly that was the best they could do? it sounds like a crartoon plot. Give the movie a chance. Bryan Singer did a good job on X-men 2 so hopefully superman will be worth the 8 bucks
Going from Gene Hackman to Kevin Spacey...pretty much a sideways move in terms of acting chops. He should make a good Luthor. Who's taking Ned Beatty's role, if anyone?
man, anyone that is criticising a superhero movie cause it isnt realistic enough needs their head examined....or they need to relax. Superheros arent real...therefore who cares of superhero movie plots dont follow science....geeze.
