Jesus dude, you are clueless aren't you? You're obviously male, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you are not a minority or you are a minority that grew up upper middle class. Michelle Obama's education ALONE is something to aspire to for a young woman such as myself. Especially for someone with no family connections or obscene amounts of money that can be used to gain admission into those prestigious schools.

I agree with you that Hillary Clinton is a role model, also. I don't see why one invalidates the other. They are both very intelligent women with different accomplishments.

Flaunt it in front of the homeless? If she was so smart like you and pgabs claimed, she would have realized how foolish it made her look wearing those expensive kicks in front of the needy.

I'm not convinced that Michelle is smart. At all. Every time she opens her mouth she seems to prove otherwise.

Her majors look like blow-off majors to me. That's the same stuff all the athletes take at most schools....hmmmm...

So you guys think it's fine to flaunt the shoes in front of the homeless, since they're too ignorant to realize their worth. ummmm, ok got it.

You're very empathetic to homeless people in the US. I'm not so much because it's hard to imagine that you can get yourself into that position in America.

You should work at a homeless shelter. :p

I wouldn't even realize their worth if not for this stupid article. Could you distinguish those from any other pair of department store shoes? (Not that there's anything wrong with that. :p ) Also, I'm sure the homeless were just grateful to be getting food. I imagine that they have more serious things to worry about than what kind of shoes the First Lady is wearing. Personally, I'm happy for all of us that have the kind of lives that allow us to waste time debating a woman's shoes on a Rockets message board.

If enlisting for the military is below texxx's pay grade, I'm sure volunteering at a shelter is unthinkable.

IMO not a role model. First class education then turned into a fund raising wife. Congrats, really pushed the limits and took life by the horns.

I could probably pick 10K better role models for girls.

    B. Obama = role model

    M. Obama = not so much

I love how you ignored my post, which was responding to what you wrote before you changed it, actually.

Quick! Name 10 minority female remodels that will appeal to the modern girl.

I figured you would. You said you could name thousands... And just in those 10, how many do you think the average minority girl has/will hear about before adolescence?

The one on that list that is the most recognizable is Naomi Campbell. A woman that made her fortune through modeling, and has a notoriously nasty demeanor. So according to you, Naomi Campbell>Michelle Obama in terms of role models. Modeling>JD from Harvard. Right.

Since you are the one who originally said role model so I will not insult your choices.

Also I am tired of being put in the position of insulting her as I respect her and her education. Personally I think a female role model is standing on her own merits more so than her husband. That is just what I see as the modern role model.

The gender roles of being a wife and mother are already well defined in society.
