In this new era of big (enormous) government, apparently $500 tennis shoes are in the first lady's tax payer-funded clothing allowance?

Michelle is such a disgrace. For the record, I do not like her one bit.

Apologist? Please. I see the finger-pointing and hypocrisy present on both sides, is all.

Taking it as it is, we have a First Lady being attacked by the right for having expensive shoes and we had the potential First Lady raked over the coals by the left for an expensive dress.

It's all r****ded, Left and Right.

Michelle Obama is a wonderful role model. I think a reporter that comes away from watching her do community service and can only come up this garbage story about her shoes needs to be a little more creative. Personally, I'm happy for her, in that she can spend $500 on some fug looking shoes without batting an eyelash, just because she's worked hard enough in her life to afford to do so.

Anyone making a stink of this or Cindy McCain's wardrobe needs to check their jealousy. Sarah Palin is a whole different issue altogether. I don't understand why people can't see the difference.

Aside from this statement being obviously wrong for a different reason - that's not what happened.

    Read my post.

Those are some ugly shoes, and I think she paid way too much for them, but thats her choice.

How can any conservative/Republican be against her buying shoes that she has money for. Constantly you talk about how you have the right to have this or that because you've worked hard and earned it.

exactly, the wingers were so wrong on this one this one through the first hundred days. they thought she would constantly put her foot in her mouth talking about how she hates america or whatever. interesting what they've been reduced to, bad gifts and bad shoes.

I can't even get mad at jorge's and others hateful rhetoric, its just funny now.

He's talking about Cindy McCain's dress and not Sarah Palin.

Apparently she did not get the memo from Bush to stay with his plan that requires everyone in America to tighten their belts. :D

I guess he had 2 memos. The 1st was to shop, shop, shop.
The 2nd was the pink slip.
Not necessarily in that order. :D

    1. How is she a role model? Throwing away her own career to support her husband (and/or taking a crony job at a hospital/walmart?) Hillary is a role model.

    2. The story was a fashion story, written by the fashion editor.. If the reporter wrote a community service story she would have been denied by her editor.

Sorry....I don't know what I did, but between Mrs. Palin, Mrs. Obama, and Mrs. McCain, I obviously got something screwed up. This semester needs to end....

Thanks halfbreed for pointing that out.

So the choice is quit the job or divorce? A woman is perfectly able to support a husand and pursue her own career.

the choice is my husband is a rising star, we have two kids, I will defer my career to his.

what exactly was hillary doing before bill became president. your analysis of what michelle was doing at the hospital is extremely subjective and probably false anyway

is hillary a role model sticking with bill chasing ass everywhere on an international stage?

edit: I do not look down on hillary for this, but it was clearly embarrassing for her as a wife.

Are you talking about the do-nothing 'hospital administration' job that was gifted to her b/c her husband was a Senator? It would sting to give up a job with no responsibilities that pays $300k/year. Oh, but I'm sure she earned that job...
