According to HuffPo she has been booed on two other occasions at The World Series as well... Link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/20/michelle-obama-booed-nascar_n_1104059.html
What do you expect from the mostly uneducated fanbase? They only get one channel on the tele...Fox. DD
I don't have numbers. But in the early 2000s, they were talking about how it was the fastest growing sport, and how it was going to be just behind the NFL in terms of popularity. I think it's fourth of fifth behind the usual 3 and hockey.
I believe that from a TV standpoint and could see it going as far down as golf or non-championship boxing. However, I'm inclined to assume that those 100 - 150,000 seat race tracks fill up every time.
They're not getting filled as much as they used to be. I remember them saying something about Phoenix and some other tracks.
For strange, I saw Rick Perry get booed handing out trophies at the Texas Boys State Basketball Championships in Austin; wearing a 4H jacket. I know it was in Austin but it was like the 2A trophy for the country kids..... yeah it was the Austin people......yeah, I booed him. Maybe it was because everyone in the building was a paid by the State high school coach?
I nevr understood that, booing the president or former president or any politican I understand, but the First Lady? That ain't fair game, nor does it even make sense, she has no real power.
Is anyone surprised? I mean this from a bunch of knuckledraggers who spend hours getting drunk and watching cars go around in circles.
The last part...that's the funniest... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/kmhQM4Rs1TE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Seriously...who's idea was it for her to go anyway? The shocker was no one on the staff said, "that's not a good idea". And for the mightier than thou...they were booing her because of her husband. It's what happens when you are married to someone not well liked in a "southern sport" where Nascar, NRA and near 100% rep voters are 1 in the same.
