I guess I just have more faith in the Israeli intel services than you guys. On the hypothetical assumption that this was the home of a member of the military wing of Hamas, would you still view her actions as not being in support of terrorists?
If it was a militants home, it wouldn't be supporting terrorism to stop the bulldozer. There are ways to get the militant that wouldn't displace innocent family members.
It's not about faith in Israeli intelligence to me at all. What, you wouldn't want a trial, a chance to defend your honor and your family's home before it gets crushed? Come on. Human beings are human beings, and if we don't treat all humans as such, with dignity and rights, we're going to keep having big time problems in the world. No matter what side anyone's on. Okay, as for your hypothetical, let's say that this person was proven to be a terrorist and directly responsible for deaths in Israel. And let's say this 23-yr-old knew that. Call me crazy, but I still think you just ARREST the freaking girl instead of running her over with a multi-ton bulldozer. But then, I am kind of a bleeding heart.
They think of it as fighting a war. The terrorists are enemy combatants (sound familiar?). Just as our soldiers don't give trials to enemy troops, the Isrraelis, in many cases, don't give trials to the terrorists. Of course I would want a chance to defend my honor, but then I doubt I would ever be suspected of terrorism. I agree with this. I even said as much above.
Fair enough, StupidMoniker. I hear you. Well, honestly, you weren't born in the occupied terrotories with dark skin (to the best of my knowledge). I see what you mean, but it's not entirely fair for you to say you're more innocent than some random Palestinian who happens to live in the same hovel community as a hamas terrorist. (By the way, now that T_J is back, I can say that all the other "conservative" posters seem incredibly conversational, intelligent, and thoughtful by comparison... kind of a silver lining).
She wasn't standing next to one a friggin air-defense battery, it was a house and a bulldozer, she didn't stand between a tank and a guy strapped with C-4. That's where this logic falls apart, I doubt someone in the line of fire is trying to defend themselves with a bull dozer, its a construction tool, not a war too.
