Yao needs to help, but if he can't get the block, send the guy to the floor and make him think twice about coming back into the lane. I'm so tired of today's NBA, Ron Artest a thug cuz he gets a couple of flagrants, 10 years ago, not only would that not be a flagrant but his teamates would be supporting him and arguing w/ the refs for some of those flagarant calls instead saying things like he's hurting the team. Man I still have fond memories of that replay int the playoffs where they showed Ewing and Zo were locked up like to wrestlers and the refs let them play cause they're in the paint and big man's are suppose to be like that. Now they actually calls fouls if some one puts two hands on the other player
Agreed Wizkid. Knock that dude over for trying to dunk on you. Then they would think twice before trying that again. I think thats why no one attempts to dunk over Shaq.
Bobododo you are indeed a funny guy. I see what you are trying to do though it is somewhat infantile it still made me laugh . Let me give you another clue - trying changing your text color to Red or Blue. No one will miss a post with such flashy colors. Attention seeker
That was a good response. I was expecting something dumb but you came up with an excellent point there. I cannot counter such strong arguments.
Wow, No one disagrees? Well I do..... At this point in the season, it would be very stupid for us to make Yao take it in strong whenever he can, because expending that much extra energy could mean the difference between having a decent Yao in the playoffs or not. He' too tired to be able to expend that kind of energy, and his FG% is good enough so that we can defer to layups and jumpshots. Also, he grabbed 19 rebounds, and that is DAMN good. I do agree, however, when the playoffs come, I hope to see a FEROCIOUS Yao, ripping everything from the boards and throwing down EVERYTHING with authority when given the opportunity.
but if he doesnt expend that extra energy then what playoffs? Oh come on now. How much more energy is it to dunk 2 footers instead of shooting a hook.
A lot more energy if he dunked with authority ever chance he got. We'll make the playoffs if he plays like he's been playing during the second half, which is not as agressive as we EXPECT in the future, but good enough for now. This team is en route to the playoffs with the way ao's been playing. No ned to expend extra energy, because we won't move into 7th, and are good enough to stay in 8th. When the playoffs come, then I'd like to see the MEAN Yao come out.
It only seems like it because Shaq doesn't challenge many shots. He is a lazy helpout guy. Also he has good on the ball defenders in Kobe and Fisher that doesn't allow too many penetrations. Yao intimidate and change so many more shots than Shaq does on helpout D. Would you rather take away 10-15 points a game and get dunked once? I would.
LoL! Now I know your basketball knowledge sucks. Fisher a good on ball defender LoL! The guy gets lit up by like every point guard in the league.
I dunno about being good enough to stay in the 8th spot. The Suns are enough to make a run for it also. Every game is crucial and should be played that way. I still dont think its too much energy to dunk.
K fine, if that's how you feel...lets say Fisher is the worst defender ever to make you happy. You are drifting away from my point. Rockets are probably one of the the worst in allowing penetrations in the league and if it wasn't for Yao helping out, our defense would suck so much worst. Yao meant so much to this team on the defensive end. Who gives a **** if he gets dunked on every night. Yao is not a dirty player like you want him to be...he plays the game the way it should be played. As Yao develops, he'll learn to take it strong and foul the living sh!it out fo somebody trying to challenge him. Just be patient, he'll adapt to the NBA.
Well most of the time he gets dunked on is the baseline ones. He's just too slow to get to those. I rather him just lay off those rather then seeing Ruben Patterson, Kobe, Webber, dunk on him badly. Im not telling him to stop challenging shots. Just do it on the ones where he actually has a chance to block it. Hard fouls and being a dirty player is different.
Think about it. It's Ruben Patterson for god sakes! It's the Kobe Stoppa! Thats the highlight of his bball career. Also notice how they always show the highlight of Kobe dunking over Yao in like every Nba preview now.
those were just added bonuses ; ) btw- You're nick based on Donnie Yen's first of fury, Jet li's first of legend, or bruce lee's version?
