Well, I'm pretty worried at the moment, but I'll probably get over it. That is unless I'm applying to a very good college, but I don't make it because of my detention. (which would say dress-code violation.)
Trust me, there is no such thing as a college you would want to go to that would hold something like that against you.
lmao The ironic thing about this is that once you get to college, you'll see hippies, goths, and all other types of "weirdos" that would cause your high school principal to **** in their pants. Ah....that is one of the many great things about college compared to high school.
Dude! That sucked **** RC... but don't sweat it... There isn't a college worth going to that will hold that against you.. and if your lucky, your mom's b****in will get things straightened out.. Stay cool, don't let em get ya worked up over this...10 yrs from now you won't even remember what happened in HS. Trust me!
I went back to school to start my senior year on Thursday. And thank God it's my last year! I feel much more relaxed and not as stressed out as in passed years after school has started. I'm about sick of all this dress code crap...they started "Standardized Dress" last year, which is just a fancy name for uniforms. You basically have to wear dress pants in black, blue, or khaki (no jeans!) and a solid colored solid shirt...last year they only had about 5 colors that we could wear, now it's any color. And you might as well forgot about wearing shorts in August or May, they banned those about 4 years ago. Guys must be clean shaven, and nobody can have piercings other than the ear (not that that bothers me), and no visible tattoos...don't ask me what they're going to do when they see a tattoo and can't figure out how to hide it. Well anyway, the teachers hate this dress code also, so they haven't enforced it very well...it's all the administration pushing it. This year they decide to just hire some people to stand out in the halls and take anyone they see out of dress code, no matter how minor the violation (even if your shirt is untucked), and stick them in In-School-Suspension for the rest of the day. Thats not all that bad, but the thing about it is if you have any ISS at all, you can't be exempt from final exams. It's just gotten absolutely ridiculous...it's like nobody cares how the students are doing in class anymore...all they want to know is if we're wearing the right clothes. Aside from that, my first 3 days have been just fine.
Almost the same as my school. We can wear any kind of pants, as long as they aren't baggy, tight, slit, etc. We can also wear any kind of shirts, as long as they aren't long, short, etc. Some of our teachers would probably let us pass, but I didn't get the luxury of getting that teacher. No dress code checkers, though. We don't have to tuck in our shirts unless its too long. We had changed, because we had to tuck in shirt tails that were meant to be tucked. Still, it sounds like your school is worse than mine. BTW, my mom found that in the dress-code book, it says no goatees, moustaches, beards. Nothing about what I had. Just another help for me.
Why don't you drink RC anymore? I love it. Had a Cherry RC the other day when I was in town. Look, young man, high school is better with Royal Crown Cola, trust me. Regards, CBFC
With all the problems in schools today like drugs, violence, low test scores, etc. why are schools so concerned with dress codes? This was the same way when I went to high school in Texas.
Its a slippery slope once you start my friend. Facial hair, baggy clothes, tatts, body piercing, prostitution, heroin.
What kind of school starts on a Thursday? why dont they just wait to start school the next week? Do they use those 2 days to set rules and pay fees or something??? Other than that i dont understand why you go back for 2 days then another weekend hits. I go back on Tuesdays.
Don't ask me. This district has always been like that though. Start on a Thursday, get acquainted with your classes, and come back Monday ready to work. We go by block scheduling, which means you have 4 classes one day, then 4 more the next...and you alternate each day.
I switched to water to be more healthy. (I'm an athlete, sort of.) Well, here's an update. I've been home for maybe 30 minutes, after serving an hour detention from 3:30 to 4:30. I was the only one there, and I remember several kids who had broken the dress code.(at least 5.) My mom also had a talk with the principal and made him very quiet, from what she told me. She said stuff like there is nothing she can do now, but she was still mad. I found out these things are supposed to be thrown away at the end of the year. My mom said stuff like this was my first day, and it may tell me what the rest of the year will be like. She also said how we put up with bad teachers who missed grades, or the time it took me 3 weeks to get out of a class I didn't want.(that lowered my average because I couldn't use that class's grades.) Bunch of cool stuff. My mom may complain more since I was the only one there. GO MOM!
8:20-3:20, I think. Classes are about an hour and a half each, and like I said there are 4 each day. I kind of like it that way, that way your not loaded down with 7 or 8 classes each day. It seems like you get a lot more accomplished.
