The team that hires the HC has invested in the QB. If the candidate wants the HC job, he'll have to work with the young QB if the org believes in the young QB or the candidate wont get the job. Example: Lawrence- Lawrence is going to be the HC. The question is what HC is Lawrence going to be working with?
I get what you're trying to say, I just don't think there's any way the Texans, and thus any potential head coach they'd hire, are tied to Mills for 15 years at this point in time. If they suck next year and get the number 1 pick, for instance, you can bet they'll take Bruce Young, or whoever it is that is seen as the best of the class.
If we do this to try and keep Watson I’ll be done with this team. I actually like Flores but not if it’s for that reason
Depends on how Mills looks, If Mills keeps improving (They probably wont have the 1st pick) then I could see Caserio trading the Young pick for another bounty of picks to go with the bounty of picks that was gained in a Watson trade. If Mills proves to be the guy and it's looking promising, then the future will be extremely bright. Or atleast as a fan that's how I'm choosing to look at things.
But But I thought everybody wanted to be done with patriot ties?? I thought everybody was done with trying to be the patriots south??
If Watson is ever the QB of the Texans again I'm done with them and this is coming from a 2003 season ticketholder.
Another recycled coach who couldn't make it with the Dolphins and is a friend of Jack`s.................No, Thanks. The optics are not good and I would bet my next paycheck that D4 will never step on the field as a Texan ever again. I would love to see Leftwich but I think he will go to the Jags unless they decide to bring in Bowles (another recycled coach)
It's not a terrible job because of the players. It's a terrible job because of the front office. You guys are putting an awful lot of confidence in Caserio's ability to evaluate talent and draft well when there's been little evidence of that, even from his days with the Pats. They you have to worry about whether the team will sign the players you want because they're not Christian enough. This isn't going to get better any time soon. Definitely not with Cully and not with McDaniels or Mayo. As long as Tommy Boy and the Pastor are running the show, I have extraordinarily low confidence that they will be even an above average team anytime in the next 5-10 years. This is a Lions/Browns/Bengals like run we're just getting started with, IMO.
Culley should be fired just for saying he 100% believes Kelly will be back as OC next season. I understand he probably has no say so in his staff, but to advocate for Kelly shows he should not be a Head Coach in the NFL.
The true Texans thing to do would be to spend a lot of time evaluating the current staff...decide to fire them...but have waited so long all of the candidates to replace them are off the market.
