In no way are we tied to Mills as QB. To say a head coach position comes down to whether or not they think they can win a championship with a rookie QB, who is just getting his feet wet is crazy.
I love that pancakes pairs Caserio and Easterby together he won't let them hide the fact that Easterby's still in a position of power I wonder how many coaching candidates we miss out on because they aren't will to work with JE
Possibly none because the one they've been eyeing all along knows Easterby well. And so does Mayo if it's him.
If they fire Cully, the only possible candidates are from the Pats. No one from outside that circle would be dumb enough to join this s*** show of an organization. There is no point in firing Cully, despite being just a terrible head coach. This team is going to remain to be terrible for quite some time. Why would someone want to come in knowing 4-13 is best case scenario for the next few years at best...only to be blamed for it?
That's the beauty of it - you most likely won't get blamed for being bad...but you WILL be blamed for not steadily improving. Look at Lions, for instance. Dan Campbell is a rookie HC, they started 0-10-1, finished 3-13-1 and I can bet that there's not a single Lions fan that wants him fired. Even though they're statistically the second worst team in the league, Lions are optimistic. The Texans' HC position is not actually a terrible job - the worst year of a post-great QB era should already be behind them, with how bad this year was.
If Caserio hits in this draft and like I believe Mills is the future at QB, then the future will be very bright in a couple of years after the rebuild is complete
Whether mills is the QB of the future or not, he’s earned the chance to prove it next year. I do think Tim Kelly is not a good OC and Pep should be promoted. I do have faith that Caserio will at least do well in the draft with way more assets
Does the Jacksonville head coach have to feel they can win a Super Bowl with Lawrence to take the job? How can you even assess that? And he was the number one pick.... The plus about Jacksonville is that a head coach isn't necessarily tied to the Lawrence pick. They can just say "he was the consensus can't miss" as they move on and keep their job with their guy.... Same goes with a new Texans head coach, except it's a third round rookie.
It's my belief that Mills not was better than Lawrence but he's a better overall prospect than Lawrence. I dont judge players by draft positon though. Of course because he's from Clemson and Dabo doesn't prepare his QB's for the NFL it's possible for Lawrence to learn how to properly read NFL defenses and improve. But if I had to bet on it I would guess he will be another slightly above avg Clemson QB.
The point is that a new coach is not tied to a second year QB based off their rookie performance. Look at Peyton Manning's rookie year, for instance. And the second, subpoint is that, even if that were true, and the coach was tied to the QB, it would be based off the teams investment in the quarterback, and thus, their draft status.
