I didn't say you have to be military to have the right to bear arms. I said that the right to bear arms given in the US Constitution has absolutely no impact on the ability of military personnel to use firearms in a combat situation, which is what is being celebrated by the OP. Why don't you learn how to read, period?
AMMUNITION APPRECIATION THREAD If it wasn't for the great ammunition we have today guns would be glorified paper weights!
You don't know how bad I wanted those when I was a kid. So awesome. Probably would have went with the one with the tomahawk.
Because it is a silly thread. Soldiers use firearms but they use all sorts of other tools. We could make threads such as "Night vision Appreciation Thread", "GPS Appreciation Thread", "Footwear Appreciation Thread" and etc.. All of that stuff was needed to undertake the mission. ORLY? So you have access to classified post action reports?
Nowhere in your first post did you mention the 2nd Amendment. This thread did not seem to be about the 2nd Amendment or the right of average citizens to arm themselves. This, in particular, made me really think it was about soldiers using firearms in a combat situation:
I see your point, but if I'm not mistaken, rope has many many uses, the vast majority of which do not involve killing anyone or anything. That's not really true of guns. Sure, some people shoot for fun (I know I have), but that doesn't change the fact that guns exist to inflict harm on living things, or at least make the threat of such harm.
Which is why I am taking this time to give them some positive PR. most of the time it is argued that the only problems guns ever solve are created by other guns in the first place. ie robber shoots teller, cop shoots robber. this time the guns were on the good side exclusively.
