Caley needs to do his job and formulate offensive game plans that his players can execute. Throwing plays out that his players struggle to execute is lazy and dumb. You have Stroud Derangement Syndrome.
I don't know for sure, but it almost sounds like CJ is using TJ to deflect the blame from him onto Caley. I thought CJ had more control over the offense, couldn't he audible if he didn't like the play? This is exactly the wrong narrative we need being perpetuated as our team goes into Spring workouts. Am I hearing/reading this wrong?
They tried those so-called easy completions to get things moving, but it didn’t work. Sounds like CJ found someone to whine to in the media. So if he doesn't have any control in the offense then DeMeco, Nick, and CJ were all lying. or they took that control away from him during or right after preseason It could also be that TJ is embellishing it, too.
Just because you have the ability to audible, doesn't mean you have a GOOD Audible. Younger QBs do not have full autonomy over the offense. They still have to run the plays called.
Yes I did and the QB has the ability to audible into a good play if he's smart enogh to know which play to audible into. See: Manning/Brady/Stafford as examples.
Even having limited autonomy doesn’t mean zero responsibility. CJ. Stroud isn’t out there helpless, just running whatever gets called with no ability to manage the situation. He can adjust protections, change routes at the line, or check into safer concepts when he reads the defense. DeMeco Ryans, Nick, and CJ himself have all said he has control in the offense. At some point it comes down to execution, and that wasn't enough. He forced throws, held the ball too long, missed reads, and made bad decisions. That’s not about whether he had the perfect audible. It’s just a QB having a bad day. Blaming it on “he didn’t have a good audible” or acting like he couldn’t do anything with the play call is just an excuse. The OC isn’t above criticism, but this wasn’t a situation where CJ had no control and was just stuck following orders. He still had a hand in how those plays ended, and it showed.
I guarantee at 24 those QBs did not have full authority in their offenses. You can audible, but many times those audibles are limited to a few plays.
I guarantee you by the end of year 3 they did. . Resorting to the he's young card. Most teams by the end of year 3 know what they have at QB.
All those teams did not have the porous Oline that Stroud has had. The Texans FINALLY decided to address their issue. Being down on Stroud after the playoffs is fine. The Texans know what they have in Stroud, it is the outside noise that has doubts. That noise doesn't matter.
You're correct nothing matters when it comes to CJ except what Hannah wants and we'll see afterv this season if she can admit she was wrong. BTW, The Lions knew what they had in Stafford and he played behind a much worse ol than CJ has ever played with. Truth is this is going to comedown to how CJ handles pressure/is willing to take hits and deliver accurate throws. Regardless of how improved the ol is CJ is still going to get hit. Does CJ have the intestinal fortitude or not? Truth is playing behind the best ol in college football he struggled dealing with pressure and DC's have CJ's game figured out, bring pressure and eventually he will fold. This is why he plays good against bad defense that cant pressure him and bad against good defenses that can pressure him. But hey, he may have grown a pair during the offseason. Otherwise CJ's going to get coaches fired again.
