On that particular play you mentioned, Yao had the ball in the post and threw it out to Cat at the top of the key. Yao then rolled into the lane about 7 feet from the bucket with the defender on his back. All Cat had to do was tip it right back to Yao for the easy bucket and/or foul. Instead he decided to dribble drive down to the baseline, which caused Yao to have to come up a little higher and try to screen off Cat's defender leaving Cat down low with Dampier on him. I kept thinking if Cat had just tip passed the ball right back to Ming, it would have been soooooooo easy. You can just tell Cat and Steve still don't have 100% confidence in Yao to do the basic basketball play.
I don't know if Houston fans got used to 5 years of losing or something. I don't expect the team to play good team basketball right away, but I expect a going on 6 years veteran to make LESS stupid mistakes. Are some of you trying to tell me that a basketball player SHOULDN'T know to pass to the open men but instead of jacking up a 3? I thought HS players knew that. How long is stupid ball gonna last? I expect that 5 years from now there will still be people saying it's just growing pains.
OK before I get lynched alive here, 4 seasons, it was a typo. I guess the term losing is not exactly appropriate either.
Yes, I'm glad we have an 8 win team. But you know and I know that the good teams in this league will kick our tail if we don't figure out how to play team ball by playoff time. This style of play will beat the Golden State's and Orlando's but that's about it.
I fully agree with you, he may not have had his best performance tonight, but he has probably been our most consistent players so far this season.
you mean London'sBurning made a mistake, then he should be fired. There are mistakes that can't be avoided, and then there are mistakes that are out of sheer stupidity. London'sBurning falls into the latter category the majority of the time. And no doubt he's a heck of an poster and is a good person, but ya gotta admit his Posting IQ is in the "severely r****ded" to the "I have no brain" department. And yes since Dec 2002 and putting up with the same "mistakes" over and over again, when does it stop becoming "mistakes" and starts becoming stupidity. London'sBurning dumb posting tonight reminded me so of why Clutch started the guidelines for posting in the feedback section at the moment, you would think reading is possible but I can't recall someone who singlehandedly is sabotaging the GARM's chance of getting better . What a ****ING IDIOT! I'll visit and read the GARM regardless and am glad it didn't come back to haunt us this time, but we really do need to play smart posting.
What this team lacks is discipline. JVG has done a good job on this, but from time to time, we still see this kind of stupid mistakes. I guess it will take time.
I see the team is improving. Cat's game is improving. What else to ask this early into the season?? You should wait and see after 1/3 of season, or at least after their west cost trip. It's just too early to critisize. Period. Unreasonable too with their 8-3 record. -------------------------------------------------- Quote: Originally posted by lynxsen Whatever you say! Yea! It is nice when Smeg can spare time from chasing the roos out of his yard and slap around the kneejerkers. Rock on mate...
I would bet that if this team lost tonight, the same people giving eachother handjobs over Smeg changing one of my posts, that a large sum of b****ing would come from their direction. I don't want to say I'm waiting to jump on the Rockets the next time they fail, or Cat for that matter, because I want to see this team succeed as much as anybody, but I'll find it hilarious if I read any one of you guys chiming in with threads over stupid basketball from any one of our players. Better yet, if the search function worked, I bet I could look through each of your posts and find atleast 10 posts from everyone of your 4000+ post accounts that would involve your frustrations with stupid basketball. And I bet as long as I continue to read on this board, there will be atleast 10 more posts from everyone of you that will involve outcasting a player from the Rockets. I apologize for violating one of the rules on this forum, but patrolling a forum from the likes of you guys waiting to insult someone for their opinions of the game that differs yours is ridiculous. There was a reason I didn't post much for a few months when I first started reading on this board, and I'm beginning to realize why I should never of in the first place. Perhaps it was rude and thoughtless of me to start a thread that was meant with intent of yelling at Mobley, but I think I more then made up for it by offering my viewpoint on why this team is frustrating. That is what this board is all about. Sharing and expressing opinions over the Rockets. Not lurking behind a monitor waiting to chastize someone for their differing opinion. I'll try lay off posting on this board for a little while and leave the oh so intelligent and intuitive posts from the likes of you PRO-fessional forum posters.
That should have been your whole post. Not all of those who criticized you for violating the forum rules disagreed with what you were trying to say - you don't understand. It's not really what you said, but how you did it. Yes, it was, but not because you were criticizing Mobley, but because you were doing the exact same two stupid things that Clutch just asked everyone to avoid and that spoil reading the board for everyone. Just check Clutch's thread in the feedback forum. No, you didn't, no matter how much one might be inclined to agree with you. Another drama queen that got her feelings hurt.
JVG said it best ! "If we expect to be a .500 team, then this type of closing out the games is fine. If we want to be on the fence between lottery and playoffs, if that's what we're striving for, this is fine. If they have my vision and my goals, to make strides toward winning a championship, it's not just me that will see this as totally unacceptable. It will be everybody in that room." Van Gundy said. Mobley is an explosive scorer with nice offensive skills, but he HAS to improve his shot selection, and learn when to slow down the offense..
While Mobley deserved credit for the trey, but he made a stupid foul on Dampier with 18 seconds left in the game which sent the GS big man to the charity stripe for a pair. Dampier missed both freebies that could have taken the lead. That i think was the scariest moment for the Rockets' fans.
MOBLEY? It was Yao that drove me crazy at the end for missing those freethrows!!! Anyone see Yao "thank" Cato and give him a hug for making "one" freethrow? Yao owes Cato a beer! He saved his arse!
