...and I disagree. Yao and T-Mac should be enough to get 52 wins. Any less than that is underachieving.

Next season *is* something completely different. IMHO, it is equally likely (if not moreso) that "The right guy" (let's call him Phil X.) could sign on, take command, and win a championship. That policy worked in Detroit.

That's only if the players and GM (and fans) want that to happen. If the players/GM are happy with the coach and they do well in the play-off this year...even if Phil is availible -- it will not happen.

We don't know what the real situation is like behind the scenes concerning, Le$, CD, JVG, and the players.

As to Yao and T-Mac, whatever their feelings about JVG, they are not going to complain (publicly) were the team to hire a guy with nine rings.

About the most vehement I could see T-Mac getting in this hypothetical:

"Well, we learned a lot about defense with Coach Van Gundy, and I hate to see a change, but you have to be excited about getting the opportunity to play for somebody that has a track record like Coach Jackson"

I might start a new poll:

    Which one is more anticipated:

    1. The TMac trade of last summer (which happened eventually)
    2. The locking of the "Fire Gundy!!!!" thread (which might or might not happen)

I think at this point, I really don't know which one would win...

He deserves to stay. Never really wanted to him to leave, but I think he's proven himself as a coach that can adjust to his players. Our scoring is up. Our defense is still great, and we're closing out games. Credit alot of it to the players packaged out there on the floor but I think JVG can help bring Houston a ring as long as he has seasoned veterans to work with. Our core players are young and that's all that matters.

I don't like JVG much but you can not argue with what is going on out there.

    They are a dangerous team....

Exactly. In the beginning, he was forcing the players to adjust to "Van Gundy style ball". Then he was able to get some players and changed his system to adjust to the players.

I might have jumped the gun in screaming "fire gundy", but Van Gundy was not doing a good job coaching in the early stages. Either way, who really cares?!?!?!

The Rockets are freakin KICKIN ASS and Van Gundy has a big part in that. Even when we lose now, I dont think the losses can be blamed on Gundy.

    No

I think it was the "BobFinn* Fantasy Basketball League" thread with 2229 replies....just barely beat the T-Mac trade thread.
