Everytime I read this thread's heading it annoys me. Let this thread go!!!!!!!!

Van Gundy is doing a good job. Let this be the last post to this thread.

    edc,
thx for answering, but i have to say that i think you're in a very tiny minority. you might be right, but i don't see many facts that would back up your argument. taking the question to now, none of those guys are available. you could make an argument for Del Harris, but that's it. I wouldn't fire Van Gundy for Del Harris nor would I fire him with only one option, which is what you're suggesting. Unless, you have other suggestions right now.

I'm not asking for Van Gundy to be fired right now unless Jackson is willing to take the job, and he demands to take over without delay. I apologize if posting in this thread confused you.

However, the offseason is a different matter. If JVG doesn't get (...and back to the chorus, everybody) "more than 51 wins, and deep into the second round," then it should be considered at the end of the season. There will be plenty of options to consider at that point.

And even if Phil wanted the job right now, JVG would still not be fired. So, it's not like it matters anyways. Besides, that would be the biggest disrespects you could do...i.e. mess with our chemistry, coach, and team...just because you have another coach in mind that won rings.

You have to let *this* coach prove himself. You say, you are doing that by repeating your old mantra; 51/2nd rd. But you hold a "gun" to his head with your proverbial "phone to your ear w/Phil on the other end" holding on, then saying to JVG, "If you make a mistake, I'll call Phil." That's one of the most underhanded, trashy and pathetic things you could do!

You aren't a Rocket fan. You WANT JVG to fail even if that means the Rockets loose. Just so that you can get Phil here.

Miss Rudy? Rudy was your favorite coach wasn't it? So, who do you blame for him getting canned? Pissed off at CD? Want to get back at JVG?

I bet it kills you everytime you say something nice about JVG.

Your PERCEPTION of JVG was wrong. Not that his coaching style is a particluar way, but the fact that he could ADJUST. Which is something that you seem to have a lot of trouble doing. You accuse JVG of doing the same thing you hate. Look in the mirror!

I'm not holding a gun to anybody's head. I just think Phil Jackson is the best coach, and he's available. To not consider that option is asinine.

Were the Pistons wrong to fire Rick Carlisle after he made the Eastern Conference Finals, and accumulated a 100-64 record over two seasons? With Larry Brown available, the only way the guy (Carlisle) could save his job was to win it all. Guess what. The ring the following year proves that the Pistons were correct.

Besides, the RT fiasco, followed by the organization's (non-)support of Calvin Murphy has proven that Le$ doesn't care one whit about loyalty or the history of the organization. Jackson is proven. Jackson is tied for most rings ever. Jackson is better. End of story.

Philly J is not the best coach, he couldn't build a team if his life depended on it, he can only win with an existing team. That is why he is good for Houston, give JVG some credit, but then again, the T-Mac deal landed in his lap, and Yao was already in houston, so maybe he didn't do that much work. Jackson nonetheless would be a good fit... I just don't know how good, or if it will be better than Gundy...

Odd quote on the live interview on Sports Sunday yesterday. Paraphrasing everything except the emphasized part:

"The offense is improving, doing good. COACH DOESN'T LIKE TO THINK ABOUT IT, but that's the case"

I honestly don't know how to translate that. Is it "JVG is worried thinking about it will jinx the offense," or "JVG doesn't emphasize offense." Either way, definitely strange.

I just read many of the first pages in this thread.

    :D :D :D

I know not all of you have eaten your crow yet...

Fegwu, if you are reading this bro...make a list of people who thought you were insane...I should probably do the same, althogh most of my confrontations with JVGHaters were in other threads. I wish they were still around...

edc, just eat you crow and move on dude...you'll probably enjoy the game more if you love the team including the coach.

I enjoy the antics of Yao and Tracy plenty. I would just enjoy them more if they were led by a guy who has actually won a championship...

After we win back to back titles again, it appears JVG will be let go only due to "medical reasons." ;)

There. I just cursed our chances. FIRE GUNDY!!!!

    Like I said...

You hate him now...but in the end... you will LOVE HIM. O baby! You will LOVE the Van Gundster!!!

    But...

If they win, you hear that T-Mac landing in his lap. And Yao was here.

    Yet...

Rudy T. must of went to Africa and picked up Olajuwon from his home tribe during one of his soccer games. And a few years later, went to Luthers Bar-B-Que and talked to Drexlers cousins nephews, uncle and had them persuade Clyde to beg for a trade to Houston in 1995.

No way TWO Hall of Fame players (one who is the best player I have ever seen) could land in the lap of a coach who was a nobody, right?

But I guess thats just moa!

I'll have some crow! I'll be the first to admit that I didn't think JVG would or even could ADJUST. The first two months of the Rox season were almost identical to watching the first three months of the Astros last season (full of underachieving), but since New Years, watching the Rox has been almost as fun as watching the Championship seasons. Now let's pick up where the 'Stros left off.

Huh? Almu is the one being delusional, thinking I could ever "luv" Jeff Van Gundy. About the furthest that needle goes is "respect."
