I think it's fair for fans to say "We". The fans buy the tickets and merchandise. WE subsidize those inflated paychecks.

    I removed the idiot reference.

Uh-huh. That's why the Oilers are in Tennessee, and the Rockets came within a stone's throw of being in Louisville.

    (1) The Knicks are certainly in need of a coach. If you scroll through this thread, there are apparently plenty of New Yorkers who want him back. The only question is whether JVG would be happier (granted, with him that is a relative term) there than here. I think that is obvious, but you are free to disagree.

    (2) crow? Nope. I still don't think the guy is a championship-caliber head coach. I continue to think he isn't of benefit to the T-Mac offense. I said I would give him props should he earn them, so I did so...

Not sure why I'm wasting my time wtih EDC...but on an interview with Jon Barry on 610 the other day, he said JVG is by far the best coach he's EVER played for on ANY level, and he found that out in just the first FEW hours of practice. He comments on how much he pays attention to details and how precise he is..and how prepared he is for games. Do you have anything to say about that?

You keep saying JVG is not a championship caliber head coach. Was Larry Brown a championship level head coach in your eyes before they won it last year? How about when Rudy keep on losing to the sonics in the playoffs prior to the championship runs, was he a 'championship level' head coach to you? And Pops prior to the lockout season before he won anything after he switch over from GM? The more you talk, the bigger of a hole you dig, and the more of an embarrasement you are to yourself. You've just got to move on after Rudy, suck it up, and LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT. Just eat your ***** crow and move on please! It's like trying to feed a frick'n stubborn baby who doesn't want to eat its crow, and cry all day non stop for no reason but for attention. Eat your crow and move on, it's good for you!

I agree with you, but seriously, how many times do you guys think the word "crow" or the phrase "eat your crow" been posted today.

    On the other hand,...
....The thing that makes the Rockets a special team (aside from TMac and Yao learning to play together now) is the defense. The last 2 years our defense has improved tremendously, although losing Francis was a stumbling block, TMac is getting better defensively. Why get rid of the coach who brought defense to this team? Rudy T (who i liked) wouldn't have been able to coach these guys any better, Van Gundy may not be one of the top 5 coaches, but I'd sure take him before a lot of other NBA coaches. Learn to be thankful we have an old school grinder and quit finding things to whine about.

Yep. Jon Barry is grateful to JVG for rescuing him from an abysmal team, and is beholden to him if he wants to continue playing. Not exactly an unbiased opinion.

As to the other, there was never any question about Van Gundy's preparation, or his "detail-oriented" nature. Those were givens coming into the job. Still doesn't mean he was the best hire, or even a particularly good one.

IMO Van Gundy has finally got the pieces in place and the chemistry just right. Granted we need a 4 that can bang with the big boys, but I like our team right now. Can we go all the way with this group, I doubt it, but I think we can make it past the first round and if we do that who knows what can happen. I actually enjoy watching the Rockets play again and look forward to each game, which wasnt the case at the beginning of the year. Cut the coach some slack, I think he`s doing a good job.

who could we have gotten at the time that was better?
i think larry brown was the only coach that i felt was better that was on the market at the time and he chose detroit over us.

    ha ha.

i'm still waiting for people to state who we could get if we were to fire JVG.
    or
who we should've hired instead of JVG at the time.

    Del Harris
    Mike Dunleavy
    Mike D'Antoni
    Mike Kryzewski

...to name three serious possibilities, and one half-serious one.
[Del? What kind of name is Del - "Gimme the Mike!" ;)]

None of the Coaches above are better then Gundy. Mike K is a Successfull College coach. and that dosent allways Gurante Success in the Pro's , just as Rick Pitino or Floyd. D'Antonio is flatering Considering the one and ONLY reason behind there Successfull season is NASH.!!
