There's not, he will be fired and Rod Strickland will be named player coach.

"One thing that you don't want to be doing is vacillating" -- Jeff Van Gundy.

EDC, do you live in NYC?

Because people here don't remember Gundy kicking any puppies. They remember him winning games and going to Finals with over the hill players.

If you do live in the NYC area, how about lunch? Its on me. You seem to need a friend.

Nope. Sorry. There are plenty of stories about the abuse staffers and others within the Knicks organization had at the hands of Jeff Van Gundy. Clutch Jeff has posted some of them on here...

Incidentally, if you still believe that, convince your owner to make him a healthy offer for your semi-vacant position. Everybody would be happy then.

edc, I don't know about you, but I've lived in NYC for 5 years now and work with a bunch of (educated) Knicks fans. Not a single one of those fans hates JVG or speaks ill of him. Seriously. Not even one fan, and we're talking about NY fans here.

At the beginning of the season I wasn’t a VG fan. We were losing and I want him replaced. Though I hated Rudy isolation ball I hoped VG would bring a more team style of game. Now I think it’s going in that direction. I like the way the R’s are playing now, and I think T Mac is a better solution then Francis.. We are playing better D and everyone is contributing.

    Nevermind this statement.

I hate NYC, I promise you that. I say, let the bald headed little people fall where they may.

Like I said, you want him, go convince your owner to rehire him. I'm sure a sufficiently fat paycheck and some small monetary inducement to the Rockets would leave everybody quite pleased.

    Roc,

Don't hate the city. Its the greatest. You should visit. I hated it also and when I moved here, swore that I would never go there. Now, you can't get a tow truck to move me away.

By the way, Vescey is right. Gundy is so popular here that when the Rockets beat the Knicks a few days ago, people were talking about how they missed Gundy and his coaching ability. The pain in their voices was music to my ears.

Wait. My owner? So, after being born and raised in Houston, I leave for a few years and suddenly I'm a Knicks fan? Oh, wait. I get it. I think JVG is a decent coach, so I MUST not be a Rockets fan. Gotcha.

Apologies. Writing metaphorically. The point still stands. If New Yorkers want him back, go convince the owner to hire him back.

Sorry, you are now apart of a minority who wants him gone. As a Rockets fan, I'm not willing to give him up.

I would dispute that. The "I (heart) JVG" crowd is very small." Very few want him fired right this minute. I've said all along, anything short of total collapse and it doesn't happen until the end of this season. The majority are probably concur, and are along a spectum of possibilities.

What will ultimately matter is that the folks who care about the Rockets are the minority, even among sports fans. The Texans and the Astros are winning the hearts, minds, and dollars of the Houston fans. The novelty of Yao Ming has waned. T-Mac's arrival was subsumed by the miserable start. Le$ wallet may have no choice but to change head coaches this offseason, especially should it come to "no-playoffs" or "first round and out."
